Kamatics, a division of Kaman, is looking for an Assistant Value Stream Manager to join our manufacturing team in Bloomfield, CT. This candidate will assist with all aspects of the value stream operation to ensure the Value Stream business plans, goals, and objectives are met. They will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's standards are met and develop refinements to the plan on a continuing basis to meet strategic objectives.

Our products are used in space, aviation, marine, hydropower and other industrial applications. As an industry leader we design, test and manufacture the highest performing, self-lubricating, roller element, metal to metal and miniature bearings in the industry.

Responsibilities:



  • Assist in leading the Value Stream to ensure a high level of productivity and quality. Exercise Servant Leadership, communicate information and provide training on current and new procedures as needed. Determine and set performance expectations/goals, evaluate performance, and provide coaching and training opportunities. Handle employee issues timely and constructively with a focus on an effective resolution. Direct work of Team Leaders and ensure all team members in the Value Stream work together as a team.
  • Support and drive the creation of a continuous improvement culture, achieving daily objectives and driving activities to support achievement of the value stream and the organizational Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • Implement and manage LEAN manufacturing concepts and tools to achieve company goals in cost, productivity, quality, and delivery. This includes but is not limited to an effective visual management system which provides quick visual representation of plan to actual performance, enabling timely and informed decision making.
  • Assist in the development of the value stream growth strategy and execute to the plan by maintaining appropriate staffing level. Maintain workflow and balance, track and monitor work.
  • Manage value stream performance, measurements, capacity planning and performance issues. Communicate information to appropriate departments, stakeholders, and key individuals. Provide reports. Manage expenses.
  • Work to sustain and improve holistic operational agility. Work collaboratively with peer VSM's to support operations organizational resource / key process needs as communicated in the daily Gemba walk or otherwise.
  • Work with all Kamatics departments to meet strategic goals and objectives. Provide a high level of service to all internal and external customers. Contribute to a positive team environment.


  • Ensure the work environment is clean safe and that safety, health and environmental procedures and regulations are followed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Accomplish related results as needed.



Requirement/Qualifications:



  • Education: BS Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business Administration or related degree or equivalent experience (BS degree is preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience; aerospace experience highly desired
  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing engineering or related experience
  • Minimum of 1 year leadership experience, formally as a team lead, supervisor, manager, etc. or informally, ie. leader of a project, providing guidance and direction in a senior individual contributor role.
  • Exposure to lean processes, including Kanban, Kaizens, Visual Management, 6S, etc.
