We are seeking a dynamic Engineering Department Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Director of Production. In this pivotal role, you will lead and mentor a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and technicians, driving the successful execution and oversight of critical projects related to DOD submarine platforms and deep submergence systems. Your strategic vision will ensure alignment with project goals, technical excellence, and compliance with industry standards. The Engineering Department Manager reports directly to the Director of Production for the performance of his/her responsibilities, providing structure, leadership and guidance to the Project Engineers, Waterfront Engineers, Planning and Testing Departments, and assumes profit/loss responsibility for those business units. Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Marine Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. * Experience: o Minimum of 10 years of experience in the defense or maritime industry, with a strong focus on submarine repair, overhaul, construction, or deep submergence systems. o At least 5 years in a leadership or management role with direct experience in managing complex engineering projects. o Extensive experience working with DOD regulations, DDS/SOC, SUBSAFE, military specifications, and standards for submarine platforms or related systems. * Technical Expertise: o Deep understanding of submarine systems, including but not limited to hull structures, propulsion systems, sonar, weaponry, and deep submergence technology. o Proficient in engineering design, analysis, and testing methods. * ERP Systems Knowledge: Experience with ERP systems such as DeltekCostPoint for project management, cost tracking, and financial reporting is a significant plus. * Skills & Competencies: o Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills. o Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities. o Excellent communication skills with the ability to interface with customers, senior management, and engineering teams. o Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing project requirements. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: * Candidate will have to perform in an ISO-9000 rated company in a rapidly changing and demanding atmosphere. * U.S. Citizenship is required. Due to the nature of our work, dual citizenship cannot be considered. * Active U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance; or the ability to obtain a U.S. DOD Secret Security Clearance. * Must be willing to travel 10% or less, as needed.
