JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for project management of new products from design through post-launch support. Uses knowledge of plastic materials properties, injection molding, rotational molding, compression molding, web molding, and electrical/electronic knowledge to design and develop new products, test protocols and procedures, and create development bills of materials (BOMs) and product cost inputs. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Creates 3D models of prototypes, final product designs, QC and assembly drawings, and mold designs using CAD (SolidWorks, Pro-E, MasterCam, or AutoCAD).
  • Maintains N.P.D folder on each assigned project.
  • Completes Engineering Change Orders on all modified products.
  • Adheres to Product Development Procedures and all company SOPs
  • Consult with the Manufacturing and Sales departments to ensure that the program follows establishment standards.
  • Prioritizes the importance of projects and writes recommendations to Management.
  • Assists Manufacturing in resolving mold and process-related problems.
  • Recommends design and estimates delivery expectations.
  • Recommend design changes to improve quality and enhance productivity.
  • Manages project schedules and product costs.
  • Works with outside suppliers to develop and produce electro/mechanical assemblies.
  • Works with component suppliers on global sourcing of electro/mechanical components.
  • Works in a team environment with Planning, Cost Accounting, Quality, Manufacturing, and Marketing.
  • Manages multiple projects while maintaining cost and schedule targets.
  • Effectively conveys technical concepts through written and verbal communication.
  • Set up programming steps for AS400.
  • Manage industry regulations such as N.S.F., FDA., ETL, UL, TUV, CE & CB
  • Interfaces with vendors and sets up new suppliers by conducting Cost Analyses in designing and obtaining parts or systems.
  • Works on mold shop projects as assigned. Prep work and mold repair recommendations.
  • Travel as required.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.
  • Execute each essential duty satisfactorily to perform the job successfully.
  • Follows all safety procedures required in the work area, wears PPE as needed, attends all safety meetings, and reports safety issues regarding equipment or unsafe/hazardous conditions.
  • Performs effectively as a team member, is able to work well with others, is open to receiving and giving feedback, and treats everyone with respect.
  • Takes ownership of own work and behavior, accepts accountability for own actions, encourages solutions, and communicates status of work/projects.
  • Follow all department quality standards/criteria. Raise concerns and issues to the immediate manager.

  • Understands the department's key performance indicators and contributes to achieving these goals both individually and as a team.
  • Other duties as needed or required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering or equivalent; or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to effectively present information to top management.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, as well as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, understand programming at a basic level and interpret industry journals.

COMPENSATION RANGE:

$90,000 - $115,000

Salary may vary based on experience.
