Electronics Development Department (EDD) is one of the Engineering Departments in the Electronic Systems Development (ESD) division at HATCI. EDD focuses on the design and validation of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis Body Electronic features and components. The Position HATCI is currently seeking a Network Management Senior Validation Engineer that will be responsible for ensuring the successful, reliable & repeatable performance of the electrical systems and respective features. This role is located at our Superior Township, MI location (near Ann Arbor). The engineer will be responsible for performing the technical validation of the components; focusing on functional performance, creating validation test plans/reports, and general system functionality as a customer would interact with the vehicle & system. The individual will be required to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders (i.e. HMG R&D, suppliers, & quality departments, etc...). The candidate is expected to have knowledge of the system components, architecture, and be able to provide recommendations related to the User Experience (UX). The engineer should have troubleshooting/root cause analysis skills and be proficient with both oral and written communication, so effective and efficient communication is provided to management and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Core Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end validation of the feature based upon Test Development Plans (TDP's). Including the ability to create and modify existing TDP's related to the components & system, to improve the validation efficiency.
- Create and present reports for management review. Report content will vary depending upon the scope of work, but regular reports will include project status for successful delivery, technical advancements, new trends & competitive benchmark studies.
- Participate in design reviews and workshops to define component requirements and specifications. Convert the requirements and specifications into a TDP and execution plan. This role can also include, specifying specialized engineering tools related to design, simulation, and test automation.
- Participate in or conduct competitive vehicle benchmarking activities. Collaborate to plan & schedule evaluations with suppliers, distributors, and HMG R&D as appropriate, prepare vehicles, run evaluations and report findings.
- Identify specification deficiencies that prevent the system from functioning & accurately report these concerns for tracking and company alignment
- Support different team members within HATCI to identify and resolve system issues they are facing while testing different features.
- Support technical leadership in R&D to resolve open issues.
- Analyze issues using logging tools and work with all stakeholders (component suppliers, network/server providers, etc.) to identify root causes and solutions.
- Participate in and provide support of all quality gate activities prior to the launch of the project for a given vehicle platform. Assist with the evaluation of field/customer concerns after system launch & drive resolution to maintain or improve customer expectations.
- Perform focus validation on post SOP Software to resolve customer impacting issues.
- Provide progress reports during entire product development process.
- Perform additional projects and tasks as assigned to support the overall mission, vision, goals of HATCI.
- Remain current with new technology and competitive products.
- Travel both domestically and internationally (up to 15%)
Core Capabilities
- Knowledge in ECU HW/SW design, vehicle electronic architectures & systems, network bus communication.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to develop/keep good relationship with tech experts from R&D Center and counterpart teams.
- Flexible in program and process changes. Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is willing to make late changes to satisfy customer needs.
- Experience with Bus communication tools (Vector, Intrepid, etc) for data logging & analysis
- Experience in CAN/Ethernet Network Management development and design
- Ability to analyze the performance of the CAN/Ethernet bus : Bus wake/sleep performance, bus load analysis, bus message integrity, etc.
- Experience in CAN/Network Management industry standards. protocols and configurations (J1939, ISO 11898-2/3, DBC, Autosar, etc.).
- Knowledge in electrical circuit and design experience.
- Understanding of electrical component specification development.
- Experience in creating electrical component timing, test plans and procedures.
- Knowledge in validation bench development
- Knowledge in network troubleshooting, maintaining network performance, network configuration, network service and standards
- Knowledge in monitoring network performance, analyzing data and identifying areas for improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or other related fields (MSEE or MBA preferred)
- 2-5 years of automotive engineering experience.
- Experience in vehicle communication technology (CAN & Ethernet) preferred.
- Knowledge preferred automotive product development process (concept to launch) preferred.
- Experience in root cause analysis & corrective action plans of electrical systems & components
- Good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Proficient time management and organization skills
- Proficient self-management skills
- Valid Driver's License with satisfactory driving record
