Job Description

Job Title: Warm Press Set Up Technician

Report To: Production Supervisor

Location: Forge Plant

JOB DESCRIPTION: Responsible for the set-up and start-up of production jobs as required to meet schedules and customer commitments. The set-up tech will have the ability and knowledge to change over forging equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintains cycle process integrity with the direction of the production supervisor
  • Works with support department to ensure tools, machines and processes are optimized
  • Recommends and implements changes and improvements to cycles, processes and procedures to maintain schedules and quality parts
  • Must also have the ability to read precision instruments, knowledge of die control standards and strong math skills.
  • Ability to setup and adjust tooling for forging. Prepare and setup tooling baskets to support production.
  • Maintain documentation and paperwork to support production cycles and procedures
  • Works directly with process technicians to suggest improvements in processes and procedures
  • Works with machine operators to improve current processes and procedures
  • Performs set-ups, samples and other production related duties to maintain production schedules
  • Assists with training as necessary
  • Ability to read machine dial gauges, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts
  • Follow safety policies and report unsafe working conditions



REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES:




  • 3 - 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment dealing with the operation of Forging equipment
  • Familiarity of metrics, blueprint reading, micrometers and calipers
  • Prior experience with set-up of gauging and programmable automation helpful
  • Prior technical training desired
  • Excellent verbal & written communications skills
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Capable of learning various software
  • High School Diploma

PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS:



  • Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally
  • Standing & Walking: Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances, often on concrete or uneven surfaces and up and down steps.
  • Repetitive Motion: Capable of performing repetitive tasks, including grasping, lifting, twisting and bending.
  • Hand-eye coordination: Ability to use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools, and controls and make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
  • Fine Motor Skills: Ability to use manual dexterity to operate levers, buttons, and controls
  • Vision & Attention to Detail: good close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as the ability to adjust focus and ensure safe operations, including reading gauges and safety indicators.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to maintain focus and physical energy throughout the workday, which may include handling loads, stacking, and organizing materials in a fast-paced environment.
  • Balance & Mobility: Must have good balance and be able to move freely in tight spaces.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in various conditions including varying temperatures, exposure to manufacturing oils and fluids and moderate noise levels.
