Summary
Responsible for assisting with the ECMO program within the organization, ensuring the highest standards of care for patients requiring ECMO support. This role helps lead the ECMO team, providing advanced clinical expertise and promoting best practices in ECMO therapy.
Provide advanced clinical support for patients requiring ECMO therapy, including assessment, management, and troubleshooting of ECMO systems and patient conditions.
-Develop, implement, and evaluate ECMO protocols and guidelines to ensure evidence-based practices are followed in patient care.
-Conduct training and education sessions for ECMO team members and other healthcare staff on ECMO procedures, equipment, and patient management.
-Participate in patient rounds, providing clinical insights and recommendations to the interdisciplinary team regarding ECMO management and patient care.
-Monitor patient outcomes and quality metrics related to ECMO therapy, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
-Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for patients on ECMO support.

Education
Associate's Degree Respiratory Care required

Licenses and Credentials
Respiratory Therapist [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care required

Experience
Experience in critical care or cardiopulmonary services 2-3 years required and Experience in a specialized ECMO role 1-2 years required and Experience in a supervisory or leadership role 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of ECMO technology, techniques, and patient management protocols.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively guide and support clinical staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to assess and respond to complex clinical situations quickly and effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in high-stress environments.
- Proficiency in using ECMO equipment and monitoring systems, as well as familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
