ABOUT THE JOB

The Internal Auditor conducts audits to assess the effectiveness of controls, accuracy of financial records and efficiency of operations. This is an entry level position that offers a fantastic opportunity for a bachelor's graduate in accounting or finance to learn our business and grow in the company.

WHAT YOUR DAY WILL LOOK LIKE




  • Conducts simple to moderate audits of accounting and statistical data of various departments, divisions and locations to verify accuracy and level of company policy compliance in purchasing, inventory control, credit extension and approval, cash receipts, cash disbursement, accounting standards, sales procedures, safety, regulatory agencies, systems and security, acquisition due diligence and laws.
  • Reviews records pertaining to material assets through physical count, inventory, and confirmation and determines the degree to which they are utilized.
  • Analyzes data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud or lack of compliance with laws, government regulations and management policies or procedures.
  • Prepares and submits reports on the results of audits.
  • Recommends improvements in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assists the branches and division with specific problem areas and provides a link between the sales location and the corporate office.
  • Assists Ernst & Young auditors to expedite the financial audit.
  • Participates in special projects as needed.
  • Reviews data regarding material assets, net worth, liabilities, surplus, income and expenditures.
  • May be required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by your leader.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
  • Follows all company policies and procedures.



EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • Submission of a college transcript is also required.
  • No experience is needed.



SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



  • Adapts to changing conditions and responsibilities.
  • Accurately counts inventory in warehouses, tank farms and fertilizer sheds.
  • Ability to climb up to 15 feet during inventory counts is required. Must not be afraid of heights.
  • Advanced computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel are required.
  • Travel by various means up to 50-60% of the time is required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license is required to drive a company vehicle.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English is required.
  • Communicating in Spanish is a valuable skill at Helena.



Successful completion of a drug test and background check is required for all positions at Helena.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF THE JOB

The work environment for this position will be in an office setting and outdoors in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, you could be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.

This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand sit, stand (8 hours a day or more), lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more), reaching overhead (up to and including 25lbs), climbing, gripping, grasping and twisting using hands and wrists, bending and stooping for long periods of time, working below knee levels for short periods of time and working above shoulder level for short periods.
