Shift Hours: 8:30am-5:00pm, Possible rotating weekends and holidays EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Required * Education High School Diploma or equivalent * Experience 2 years of related laboratory experience Related college laboratory classes may be accepted in lieu of experience. Preferred Experience Bachelor's Degree in Science Cytology, histology, IHC/ immunohistochemistry, digital pathology, surgical pathology experience JOB DUTIES * Handle and process specimens according to departmental protocols. * Perform the following duties: specimen management (receive specimens from phlebotomists and nursing floors); specimen accession into LIS; prepare specimens for testing; basic technical tasks (placing samples in automated analyzer, streak culture plates, etc.); submit specimens to testing department; store and manage specimens according to retention protocols. * Maintain accurate and easy-to-use specimen storage systems. Monitor and maintain accurate patient identification and confidentiality for all samples in accordance with departmental protocol. * Ensure specimens sent to reference laboratories are submitted to referral department in a timely manner. * Answer telephone inquiries and provide verified test result information per the LIS system. * Establish priorities and organize activities to achieve optimum and efficient results. Complete assigned functions in appropriate time intervals. * Perform other duties as assigned.
