Position Description

The Production Coordinator (PC) is a key position with Saunders' Production department. The PC works in conjunction with Estimating and Quoting, Customer Care, and Production Management to coordinate an optimal production schedule. The PC ensures that work orders are routed correctly, and that all production-related variables have been taken into consideration such as raw material availability, machine capacity, and machine operator assignments. A successful PC will have a strong understanding of the Saunders Production environment and be able to handle a myriad of various tasks in a fast-paced environment with a relentless attention to execution and an unwavering commitment to serve. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.

Job Duties & Responsibilities



  • Facilitates and coordinates production activities between departments, machines, and individuals for all new orders, expedites, and reschedules.
  • Assists with inventory management such as cycle counts, lot traceability, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.
  • Assists in material staging and raw material job setups as required.
  • Actively participates in the ongoing monitoring of time studies to determine accuracy of logged workstation hours and works to identify any corresponding discrepancies on labor reporting.
  • Aids Management in posting activities to ensure that COGS, raw material utilization, and yields are accurate & aligned.
  • Serves as back up to shipping, receiving, and packaging personnel as needed.
  • Participates on no-cost onsite inventory to ensure that physical vs. system reconciliation is correct and lot traceability reliable.
  • Assists with production data collection activities for KPI's, including related concepts such as 5s, visual systems, and other ISO related needs.
  • Thoroughly understands machines, standards, and general manufacturing practices to run an efficient production cycle in accordance with instructions and required job specifications.
  • Reviews work orders/ production schedules to determine specifications and to ensure the proper setup sequence, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
  • Monitors machine operation during production runs and records operational data.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned.


Education & Experience



  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent with 3 or more years production environment experience in an operator, production coordinator, or leadership capacity.
  • Strong English reading, writing, and oral communication abilities required.
  • 3rd party production and/or quality certifications preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English capability preferred.

Physical Requirements:



  • This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard manufacturing equipment, as well as standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
  • Repetitive use of hands/dexterity to handle and control various manufacturing related tools/controls.
  • Standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Operating machinery and/or power tools for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolds, and stairs.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Close and distant vision, accurate color perception, and peripheral vision are critical.
