Company Description
The engineering management intern will be assisting with the completion of a project (or projects) as determined by the management team. The main project for the summer will be industrial engineering focused completing time studies and validating material usage for better understanding of material costs. This includes data collection and review, creation of corrective action plans, using project life cycle tools to track project progress, scheduling and assisting with project gate reviews, and using other lean techniques to enhance the business OEE. - Collect data on throughput and/or waste reduction.
- Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies.
- Deliver documentation offering a critical analysis and suggestions for correcting errors.
- Submit a scope of work for each project that includes budgetary numbers and the goal of each project.
- Collaborate with other Engineers and plant leadership to develop an accurate accounting of all engineering hours required for various types of internal projects.
- Understand project scope/background/objectives, use data driven approach to solve problems, and practice methodologies including Six Sigma, DMAIC, PDCA.
- Complete a report, with a presentation and recommendations to management on process throughput improvements or ideas to improve the company's waste reduction on main production lines.
Qualifications
- Pursing a bachelor's degree in one of the following:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Operations Management / Engineering Management
- Expected graduation date between December 2025 and May 2027.
- Familiar with AutoCAD, Solidworks, Inventor, and/or Fusion 360
- Familiar with Lean and Six Sigma concepts and practices
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Understanding of engineering economics concepts (ROI, NPV, etc.) preferred, but not required.
