What You'll Do:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of designers and engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Oversee the design and development of engineering projects, ensuring alignment with company goals, budgets, and timelines.
- Drive the conceptualization, design, and prototyping of new products or solutions, ensuring technical feasibility and design excellence.
- Collaborate closely with other teams (e.g., Technical Leads, Program Managers, Production, and Quality) to ensure designs meet customer requirements and are cost-effective.
- Establish design processes and workflows that streamline operations and improve the efficiency of the design cycle.
- Review and approve design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company guidelines.
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials, technologies, and manufacturing techniques to optimize product performance, cost, and sustainability.
- Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies and best practices.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of projects.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration and resolve any technical challenges that arise during the design and development stages.
- Provide performance feedback and development opportunities for team members, supporting their growth in both technical and leadership capacities.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or Engineering Management; or equivalent experience is preferred.
- 7+ years of design engineering experience, with a strong background in leading teams on complex projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventory or Solidworks
- Strong knowledge of design principles, CAD software, and simulation tools.
- Knowledge of basic materials properties, components and hardware.
- Ability to document the design process fully and accurately from start to finish.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS 9100.
- Ability to work independently as well as take direction and collaborate with others.
- Proven experience in managing and mentoring a diverse team, with the ability to drive performance and innovation.
- The ability to complete assigned tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
