The Opportunity US Land/Public Awareness has a management opportunity available for a leader who has the skills and drive to proactively manage Public Awareness & Public Engagement services and support for operational and project activities across TCE's natural gas US footprint. The Manager, Public Awareness & Public Engagement, will lead a team of Advisors based in our Houston office as well as throughout our US footprint. Reporting to the Director - US Land Services, in this exciting role, you are the Managing liaison between multiple Business Units including Land, Communications, Regulatory Safety Compliance, Field Operations and the Damage Prevention team. What you'll do
Lead, mentor and continue to develop a high performing team of Public Awareness Advisors within the US to ensure the provision of timely, reliable, on-budget and high-quality client services Act as an ambassador with external stakeholders with a focus on enhancing relationships on behalf of TC Energy. Engage with local officials (often in partnership with Government Affairs, Land, Operations, and other internal business partners) on a variety of matters to support overall business objectives and strategic goals Organize and lead events with community partners and represent TC Energy at community events Planning, designing, developing, implementing, and administering public awareness and public engagement policies, programs and processes along with functional supervision of staff Direct support of our operations teams to identify threat and damage areas and implementation of mitigation efforts towards prevention of such threats Analyze and track metrics as it relates to pipeline safety toidentify trends and develop action plans Interface with key internal stakeholders and identified audiences, including presentations, planning and hosting meetings and/or training sessions Manage coordination of external public awareness liaison meetings with our first responders, schools, and other community groups Work collaboratively to support all Public Awareness and Public Engagement activities, including interfacing with internal departments, and external vendors, stakeholders, and industry organizations Manage records and prepare documentation for regulatory requirements and provide support to Pipeline Safety Compliance for all regulatory inspections Manage work in conjunction with local, state and One Call programs to support the prevention and reduction of damages to pipeline facilities Manage departmental budgeting, staffing and business planning Monitor and Manage Public Awareness and Public engagement performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes Championing and leading the development and promotion of a safe working culture Manage and ensure proper tracking of activities, identifying trends and providing appropriate reporting to stakeholders Plan, design, develop and administer policies, programs and processes for API 1162 and API RP 1185 through functional and direct supervision of staff Provide leadership over the training and development of team members and succession planning.
Minimum Qualifications
University Degree or appropriate professional accreditation Minimum 10 years of related experience in Public Awareness, Communications, Community Engagement, Regulatory Compliance and/or Emergency Management (Energy Industry -preferred) Knowledge of Public Awareness/Damage Prevention procedures, and relevant legislation and regulations including API 1162 and API RP 1185 Proven people-leadership capabilities with the demonstrated capability of guiding teams toward making sound decisions Passionate about making an impact and the ability to lead diverse teams, as demonstrated through experience as a high performing leader Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in fast paced environment Ability to develop and manage programs and resources, while dealing with ambiguity and a dynamic work environment Relentless drive to overcome obstacles and deliver results, applying refined analytical and problem-solving skills Dynamic broad thinking personality that recognizes interdependencies and connections in complex environments and able to appreciate multi-faceted contexts Effectively leverage negotiating strategies and tactics to reach mutually agreeable solutions Effective communication skills with an ability to establish trust and communicate issues without alienating individuals Comfortable, diplomatic, and skilled at influencing at various levels within the organization and externally Detailed knowledge of federal, state, legislative and regulatory requirements for Public Awareness & Public Engagement and the ability to apply such knowledge
Preferred Qualifications
Post-secondary education, a degree or business diploma, coupled with a minimum 12 years of experience in Public Awareness, Communications, Community Engagement, Regulatory Compliance and/or Emergency Management (Energy Industry -preferred) Excellent organizational skills entailing demonstrated ability for goal setting, delegation, time management, project management. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively across an organization for issue resolution Refined customer service, where there is an understanding of and responsiveness to customer needs Experience working with strategic partners and maintaining strong relationships Knowledge of land procedures, relevant land legislation and regulations Knowledge of pipeline and facility construction, and operations best management practices Strong business acumen and demonstrated success contributing to strategic business results General knowledge of applicable codes, practices, laws and regulatory processes relevant to the energy infrastructure Skills and experience in project management and project execution methodologies.
