Potomac State College (WVU Keyser), part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, located in Keyser, WV is seeking applications for a Behavioral Health Therapist. About the Opportunity The Behavioral Health Therapist will be responsible for providing brief assessment, triage, linkage, and short-term intervention and support as appropriate for WVU Potomac State students with diverse presenting behavioral health concerns. The Behavioral Health Therapist will provide a range of clinical and outreach services and will participate as needed in the supervision and training to graduate trainees. The Behavioral Health Therapist will report to the Dean of Student Affairs or designee with a dotted line to the leadership of Carruth Center in Morgantown. What you'll do: Clinical Activity
- Provide multiculturally-sensitive brief counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and couples with diverse presenting concerns.
- Provide other clinical services including but not limited to assessment, treatment planning, group therapy, crisis intervention services, psychoeducation, and case management.
- Provide group wellness activities.
- Comprehensive assessments and intake evaluations, triage, and participation in the Center's crisis intervention services, drop-in clinic, and after-hours crisis coverage.
- Provide and document risk assessments and risk reduction interventions.
- Provide case management for WVU Potomac State students who require care that is more specialized or longer term.
- Provides consultation and outreach to students and their families, Potomac State faculty/staff, and the university community.
- Completes required Center documentation in an electronic health record system and quality assurance activities including routine monitoring and management of student treatment compliance (i.e., missed appointments, cancellations, etc.) in accordance with agency policies and state and federal regulations.
- Responsible for all scheduling, tracking and documentation of appointments.
- Develop and manages budget for psychological services.
- Collaborate with Morgantown campus to continue providing students with access to WVU Telepsychiatry.
Provide related case management and coordination of care.
Professional development & Campus-wide Support/Initiatives
- Attends case conference, committees, task forces, and other meetings related to the mission of the Center.
- Provides clinical supervision to graduate trainees and facilitates didactic seminars on a variety of clinical or professional topics.
- Collaborate regularly with Morgantown campus to receive support on student consults, needed resources and professional development.
- Provide consultation, support and/or mental health first aid training to members of the College community to determine best practices for assisting students and supporting employee wellness.
- Participate in special programming throughout the campus community such as Discover Day, NSO's, and other related programs as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- MA/MS/MSW, in social work, counseling, clinical/counseling psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 800 hours - Supervised practica /internship in providing psychological services, including adult outpatient individual counseling /therapy, group psychotherapy, and assessment.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to provide multiculturally-sensitive clinical services.
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document and evaluate individual, couples, and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and consultation/outreach with a college-aged population.
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct, document and evaluate multiculturally sensitive intake/triage/crisis assessment, individual, and group psychotherapy, and consultation/outreach across a range of mental health concerns.
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to proficiently conduct and evaluate supervision and training.
- Ability to utilize an electronic health record system.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present psychoeducation/wellness topics to faculty, staff and students.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural humility and affirmative care for all students.
- Knowledge, skills, and expertise required to manage the center expenditures and budget.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of clinical experience
- Experience with college student mental health.
