Job Summary:

This position will maintain the Wisconsin Reading Center's (WRC) image technician certification and WRC camera and image system certification. In addition, maintain quality monitoring programs and verify image parameters by checking digital system certification. Manage the importation of digital image files received from clinical sites participating in studies with the Reading Center, compiling them onto a central server for assessment by other Reading Center staff. Liaise with industry representatives to enhance ocular imaging software and hardware with an eye toward improving reading center workflow. This incumbent will also supervise members of the data quality evaluation team.


Responsibilities:
Provides technical expertise in a research, development, or scientific program. Designs, modifies, and adapts equipment to create unique systems in support of research, development, or instruction, involving, but not limited to, the disciplines of electronics, mechanical/thermal systems, optics, and/or computers.

  • 30% Provides technical expertise to staff, researchers, clients, and students in the installation and use of equipment and instruments, exercising discretion and independent judgment to meet unit goals
  • 15% Develops, integrates, tests, and modifies sophisticated scientific equipment to support research/clinical initiatives and unit directives
  • 5% Designs, plans, and performs preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal and safe operation
  • 30% Answers questions and provides technical information regarding instrumentation to staff, researchers, clients, and students
  • 10% Investigates new research processes and technology solutions in collaboration with research/clinical staff, students, and clients
  • 10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, discipling, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees

Qualifications:

Required:
-Customer Service Experience.
-Broad knowledge of the anatomy of the eye.
-Experience in ophthalmic imaging or medical photography.
-Practical and academic knowledge of photographic principles including photographic optics, lighting, and the ability to translate, adapt and apply this knowledge to ophthalmic imaging required.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills required including ability to compose communications and grammatically correct documents in a concise, logical and organized manner.

Preferred:
-Experience with Flywheel software.
-Experience with supervising.
-Performed the following photography under supervision and with instruction.
-Ocular fundus photography
-Digital image handling.


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.


Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal, 12 month appointment.
This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding


Salary:

Minimum $56,112 ANNUAL (12 months)
