RAND advises a variety of international, national, and homeland security clients on policy-level decisions relating to military and homeland security operations, programs, and systems; innovation, technology, and acquisition; future force structure and doctrine; national military strategy; homeland security law enforcement; and disaster preparedness, resilience, and response. RAND's Technology and Security Policy Center (TASP) researches how high-consequence, dual-use technologies like artificial intelligence and biotechnology change the global competition and threat environment, then develops policy and technology options to advance the competitiveness and security of the United States, its allies and partners, and the world. RAND seeks a Senior Analyst for Advanced AI for a key role in TASP's project on the Geopolitics of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). Responsibilities for the Senior Analyst for Advanced AI position include:

• Strategic Operations Management: Lead the operational planning and execution of the Geopolitics of AGI project. Manage budgets and timelines to ensure the project is on track.

• Recruiting and Staffing: Coordinate with Initiative leaders, project leaders and GRT to help staff and budget the Geopolitics of AGI project.

• Communications and Publications: Work with the Geopolitics of AGI project leaders to complete and track products and publications through the quality assurance and publications process.

• Event and Workshop Management: Develop and execute Geopolitics of AGI project events, working closely with RAND facilities and support personnel.

• Initiate and track subcontracts, independent service agreements, supplier service agreements, and purchase orders.

Education Requirements

MA/MS in political science, international studies, strategic studies, public policy, or a related field with 8 years of relevant experience, or BA/BS with 10+ years of related experience, is required.

Experience

At least 8 years of relevant experience in security, defense or intelligence policy planning and analysis, preferably with the US. government and not including internships, is required.

Security Clearance

A security clearance may be required for some projects; U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance. An active or interim clearance is preferred.

Washington, DC; Santa Monica,CA;Pittsburgh, PA.

A hybrid work arrangement, involving a combination of work from home and on-site from RAND offices, is available.

Writing Sample

Two writing samples are required for this position. Pieces that show rigorous use of evidence and logic which are either solo or lead authored are preferred.

Salary Range: $99,200 - $192,100

Analyst IV: $99,200 - $143,900

Analyst V: $125,900 - $192,100

RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidate's education and experience. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
