Wieland is hiring a Director, North American Metals Management. The Director, North American Metals Management will provide leadership and strategic oversight for sourcing copper-based scrap and primary metals required to support our casting facilities. This role will be responsible for ensuring the alignment of raw material sourcing with profitability, sustainability, and operational goals.

This role will be based out of our headquarter office in Louisville, KY and travel to other locations will be required (30% travel).



Responsibilities

Director, North American Metals Management Responsibilities:

    Lead the strategic sourcing of various grades of copper-based scrap and primary metals to support Wieland's North American casting plants.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain and Operations teams to ensure seamless alignment on raw material needs, material flow, working capital goals, and cost-effective material recipes.
  • Conduct periodic ad-hoc market analysis to identify trends and opportunities that inform strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with both business unit and overall Wieland targets.
  • Direct sourcing activities of scrap and primary materials for existing NA casting plants that support profitability objectives (scrap spreads), sustainability initiatives (carbon footprint and recycled content), and working capital goals
  • Facilitate inter-company material movements and pricing decisions to maximize inventory velocity, improve material utilization, and meet profit margin targets
  • Use internal and external data to monitor domestic and export market conditions; create periodic market study reports; track and report relevant KPIs.
  • Continuously improve the coordination between facility operations and Metals Management to deliver raw material-related cost savings without compromising safety or quality.

Director, North American Metals Management Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in business or technical-related discipline
  • Ten years of metals related experience including procurement and hedging
  • Ability to set direction and lead/develop a team
  • Ability to work effectively and resolve conflict across all functional areas and business units
  • Confident and effective negotiator with 3D or related negotiation experience
  • Ability to lead by example- coaching, training, priority management, problem-solving, effective communication, etc...
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on spreadsheet applications and PowerPoint presentations
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
