A Day In The Life
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Lead Engineer will identify maintenance and facility initiatives and set standards that will apply to the two shift maintenance operation. Will assist in the development of preventative maintenance, and repairs programs/processes on equipment for buildings, grounds and equipment in the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC)/Parts Distribution Center (PDC).

As a Eng, Lead Maintenance you will:

  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, Lead and motivate staff to reach their productivity goals in a fair and balanced environment.
  • Responsible for Maintenance team daily safe work practices and regulatory compliance/standards pertaining to maintenance operations.
  • Analyzing complex operational problems, evaluating alternatives and recommending or implementing effective courses of action.
  • Assists with the planning, organizing, coordination, administrating and supervision of the efficient operation of the buildings throughout the facilities.
  • Maintains current maintenance parts inventory for a wide variety of equipment compiles stock control records; and prepares requisitions, orders or others for purchasing new or additional parts.
  • Ensures Preventive Maintenance, Work Orders and Safety inspections are completed and provide feedback on outstanding work.
  • Planning, assigning, and coordinating a variety of functional specialties with overlapping work areas;
  • Work with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards and management controls;
  • Exercise the requirements of the Departmental Policy guidelines
  • May participate in project or process improvement teams.
  • Some Project Management.
  • Coordinate all support activities for assigned business units and assigned customers.

What We Need From You

  • High School Diploma Minimum 5 years related experience in a Maintenance position. Req
  • 4-6 years Equivalent combination of certifications and/or experience
  • Must have experience as a Lead Position in a facility or building. (Power Plant/HVAC)
  • Knowledgeable of the operation of boilers, Generators, Pumps, Compressors, water treatment, etc.
  • Knowledgeable with the Electrical Distribution System and Emergency Power Generation.
  • Familiar with various federal, state and local codes on installation, fire safety, sanitation, OSHA, NFPA, City of Houston and other regulations applicable to Industrial Buildings.
  • Must have computer skills, such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook).
  • Must be proficient with Computerized Preventative Maintenance Program, Energy Management and Building Automation Systems.
  • Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches and construction plans.
  • Proven leadership skills to motivate staff to reach their productivity Goals in a fair and balanced environment.
  • Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the leadership team and who is able to communicate concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
  • Must have positive attitude and customer relations skills.
  • Must be willing and able to handle diversified assignments with confidence
  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Required
  • Licensed Maintenance Electrician Texas Maintenance Electrician license Required
  • Stationery Engineer license from City of Houston Preferred
  • Texas Maintenance Electrician license, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Operator D Water License for PDC location. Required
