Position Highlights The Lowell Program in Economic Geology, housed within the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona, is an innovative program affiliated with the university's School of Mining and Mineral Resources (SMMR). The program offers a graduate certificate, MS, PSM, and PhD degrees, alongside broad-based continuing education focused on mineral resources. The position will help support the training activities, fellowships, and professional development courses. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in event coordination, enjoys working with people, and is adaptable to dynamic educational environments. This position will provide essential services to students, faculty and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

Course and Event Coordination:

Assist in the planning and organization of professional development courses and classes, both in person and online.

Follow detail established protocols for event management and execution.

Communicate closely with instructors and participants to ensure smooth execution.

Responsible for planning and coordinating field trips and events for the Lowell Institute.

Monitor the programs course calendar.

Facilitate the necessary travel accommodation and itineraries.

Help monitor budgets, invoicing to clients and participants and monitor payments to vendors.

Ensure compliance with the university of Arizona's policies and procedures.

Become proficient in university protocols for travel, purchasing, and vendor engagement.

Manager meal arrangements and other logistical needs for courses.

Course Preparation: Prepare materials required for short courses, meeting, and classes, Provide special support for intensive short courses offered throughout the year, Travel Support: Travel in-state and out-of-state as needed to support program activities.

Website and Media Updates: Work directly with the program manager to update the program's website and social media communications.

- Ability to work flexible hours, except during meetings, conferences, or short courses.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

- Ability to lift and transport up to 30lbs of materials, as needed for events.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing and organizing events.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish preferred).
