The Data Privacy Counsel is responsible for supporting the effective implementation of the Baker Hughes global data privacy program. This Corporate Lawyer will provide legal support to regional and global business functions on all aspects of privacy regulatory compliance with a particular focus on North America region.

Partner with the best

The Data Privacy Counsel provides legal advice on global and local privacy compliance policies, procedures and processes. This Counsel will report to the Privacy Executive Counsel. We are looking for an experienced corporate lawyer with an advanced Degree and extensive knowledge within privacy regulatory compliance.

As a Privacy Counsel team member you will be responsible for:

  • Manage and support incident response from a privacy perspective (including Data Loss Prevention - DLPs).

  • Manage data privacy aspects of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and support data owners with responding to DSARs.

  • Support Data Transfer Impact Assessments for cross-border personal data transfers.

  • Conduct Privacy Impact Assessments as required.

  • Commercial and Sourcing privacy support (support negotiation of customer and vendor contracts).

  • General support for day-to-today activities in response to business requests.

  • Support Segments, Regions and relevant Functions with the effective implementation of the Data Privacy Program.

  • Manage and/or support enterprise-wide projects that have a data privacy aspect/impact.

  • Develop and deliver privacy compliance training.

  • Support data privacy audits (both internal and external audits).

  • Monitor data privacy regulatory developments (horizon scanning) and contribute to the update of the team's regulatory developments tracker.

  • Support the review and update of privacy policies and procedures.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a reputable law school in the US (or in another state/jurisdiction in NAM/LATAM).

  • Eligible to practice as an attorney in the State of Texas (or in another state/jurisdiction in NAM/LATAM).

  • A minimum of 4 years law practice in the US (or in another state/jurisdiction in NAM/LATAM) in data privacy related roles either in private practice or in-house.

  • Good understanding and knowledge of the data privacy legislation in major jurisdictions (including an understanding of the GDPR).

  • Cross border/international experience, including in respect of international data transfers.
