The ASPIRE Intern Program is designed to immerse you in a team environment from which you will gain hands-on experience, knowledge, mentorship, and professional skills that will catapult your career. You will work daily within your host team as well as participate in weekly fun and insightful activities created specifically for our intern cohort. Your program will conclude with the presentation of your final project presented to our executives by you and a representative from your host team. Program Details and Requirements: 9-week paid summer intern program located in San Jose, California, United States, or Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Interns will have an opportunity to earn income while at Forescout and will be paid $20 per hour for a maximum of 30 hours per week for the duration of the program. Must be at least a junior in college or equivalent trade or technical school. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (and be able to provide their transcript) Must live in the location of the internship opportunity What you bring to the table: Critical Thinking- The ability to absorb new information readily and to put it into practice effectively. Verbal and Written Communications - Ability to research material and create presentations based on a given subject material. Willingness to ask questions for clarity. What you will gain from this internship: Exposure to the software design process for a new feature (e.g. requirement building, security considerations, architecture design, documentation) Using common software development tools: GitHub, Confluence, Jira, IDEs Agile development (e.g. standups, sprints, retrospectives) Understanding of client-server communication (e.g. REST, WebSockets) Good exposure to Kubernetes and other cloud-native technologies Cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure Must-Have Skill Requirements: Java development: writing good code, tests, debugging Curious and motivated to learn Able to research technologies, find/follow guides, attempt proof-of-conceps, and present your findings to the team Familiarity with basic Git operations (i.e. pull, branch, commit, push, stash) Basic understanding of IPv4 networking (TCP, UDP, TLS, subnets, firewalls) Basic understanding of containers and use of docker/containerd Familiar with the Linux command-line Nice-to-Have Skill Requirements: Kubernetes experience Cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS) Writing container image specs Writing Linux shell scripts Writing Python applications Familiar with public key cryptography (public vs private keys, CAs) Familiar with general concepts in security (e.g. SQL injection, privilege escalation, hashing) EEO Statement: Forescout Technologies is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
