The EHS Specialist has day-to-day responsibility to support and manage risk assessments, incident investigations and compliance management for Sarepta's Genetic Therapies Center of Excellence (GTCOE) research and development facilities.
The Opportunity to Make a Difference
- Assist with the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive and site-specific environmental, health and safety programs.
- Submit EHS regulatory permits/reports and maintain compliance with OSHA, OEPA, state and local EHS record-keeping and reporting requirements.
- Organize, facilitate and conduct comprehensive safety surveys, program audits, and workplace analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of EHS procedures and compliance with applicable standards; and develop and recommend changes to eliminate or reduce hazards.
- Facilitate and participate in root cause investigations and analysis to improve and mitigate EHS-related hazards or conditions.
- Perform and participate in risk assessments and assist with implementing safety controls
- Support the Columbus facility and business as a company liaison to external regulatory agencies for environmental health and safety related areas.
- Participate in the review of operations/facilities projects that involve proposed modification of any existing process, equipment or the introduction of any new process, equipment or material to ensure compliance with all general environmental, health and safety regulations and permitting requirements.
- Assist in the identification, evaluation and tracking of site KPIs and goals; and determines the appropriate countermeasures.
- Act as an agent of positive change to inspire, foster and strengthen the EHS culture through awareness and training.
- Support company training needs and maintain processes to ensure compliance.
- Partner with internal and external teams to develop efficient and collaborative working relationships which enhance and improve processes; and serve as the site EHS contact for cross-functional teams.
- Support operations at the Columbus site as assigned by the Senior EHS Manager which will include travel to North Carolina as needed.
More about You
- B.S. in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene or other Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) science related fields with 2 - 5 years of experience working in and EHS capacity supporting site and corporate initiatives and compliance; experience in biopharmaceutical and/or chemical research environment is strongly preferred.
- B.S. in other fields will be considered with 1-4 years of direct work in Environmental Health and Safety.
- Knowledge and understanding of the federal, state and local regulatory requirements associated with facility operations.
- Possess strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication (written and verbal) skills.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision for position related tasks in a matrix team environment.
- Experienced in team building, facilitation and training.
- Ability to work in animal research operations.
- The ability to obtain an EHS related professional certification. Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH); Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), is preferred.

This position is hybrid, you will be expected to work on site at one of Sarepta's facilities in the United States and/or attend Company-sponsored in-person events from time to time.
The targeted salary range for this position is $72,400 - $90,500 per year. Sarepta is making a good faith effort to be transparent and accurate around our hiring ranges. The salary offer is commensurate with Sarepta's compensation philosophy and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity.
