Responsibilities include selling and/or verifying memberships through POS system, providing information about the Salem Kroc Center, answering questions about programs and camps, and providing information for other related inquiries. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Professional: The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment. The ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Demonstrate the ability to relate positively and energetically with staff, clients, members, and customers. Must have the ability to maintain a non-judgmental attitude in working with customers, clients, members, and staff. Skills & Abilities: Must have command of the English language and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment while maintaining poise under pressure. Demonstrate the ability to empathize and communicate with low-income and vulnerable people. Possess excellent telephone skills and have proficient typing abilities. Working Conditions: This position may have frequent phone and in person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused or frustrated. This position will work with minimum supervision and that work involves a high volume of customers coming in and out. Must be available to work in the mornings, afternoon, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position has access to confidential and private information. It is essential that confidentiality and privacy be observed. Miscellaneous: The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a criminal history information check. High School or Equivalent (preferred)
Experience
Previous cashier and/or customer service experience helpful. Computer software application experiences a plus. (preferred)
