Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a strategic and innovative individual to join our Engineering team. This role will be responsible for the execution and optimization of manufacturing processes of products for the production line, suppliers, customers, and partners, and analyze production methods in a manufacturing facility. A Manufacturing Engineer works with a team to re-design processes and methods targeted at achieving company objectives in areas that include cost, efficiency, and quality and refining the flow and efficiency while adhering to safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate is collaborative, self-sufficient, a problem solver and can meet deadlines and prioritize multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
Engineering-
- Plan and coordinate manufacturing processes for Ivyland location
- Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
- Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow
- Support production and respond with a bias for action to manufacturing engineering issues that come up from daily management or during the workday
Communication and Documentation-
- Discuss manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes with management, engineering, and other staff
- Collect and communicate issues and plans for resolution with suppliers, production teams, site management, and customers effectively
- Collaborate with design engineers, production, and quality control teams
- Develop and analyze data, and update reports
Design and Analysis-
- Participate in new engineering development projects by assisting in design reviews and providing technical guidance assistance as required
- Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Confer with the planning and design team to develop effective product designs and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
Process Improvement-
- Ensure processes and procedures are aligned to company standards
- Lead and support continuous improvement efforts to drive lean six sigma principles and techniques throughout the business
- Redesign or reconfigure existing processes and standard work to increase productivity
- Display vigilance surrounding quality, ergonomics, and safety across multiple light industrial production lines
Cost Reduction-
- Evaluate and determine labor, material, and production costs
- Review schedules and upcoming production needs
- Manage equipment maintenance and repair services
- Support cost reduction efforts by responding to supplier issues and questions (Drawings and BOMs, material specs, etc.)
Training and Development-
- Participate in training programs to improve engineering skills and product knowledge
- Attend monthly EHS trainings
- Follow all policies and procedures (i.e. report on time and ready to work - Start/Lunch/Break)
Quality Control-
- Support Quality and make recommendations for improvement
- Participate in engineering and quality discussions
Safety Compliance-
- Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Confirm designs are safe and cost effective
- Ensure processes follow safety and environmental regulations
- Report any safety hazards or incidents to supervisors promptly
Cleanliness and Organization-
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow 5S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
- 1+ years' experience as a manufacturing or industrial engineer in a Lean manufacturing environment, preferred
- Experience with SolidWorks, and AutoCAD, preferred
- Robotics experience, a plus
- Experience in lean manufacturing, VSM, Kaizen, 5s, etc.
- Proven track record in implementing cost reduction/process
- Experience launching new products into production
- Strong leadership and collaborative abilities
- Familiarity with fixture and test equipment designs and construction
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Proficient computer skills (i.e. log on credentials (SSO), JD Edwards, and Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel)
