Computer Operator II

Location: Fort Leonard Wood, MO

Employment Class: Full-Time

FLSA Classification: Non- Exempt- SCA

Position Summary:

Advancia Government Services (a federal government contractor) seeks a full-time Computer Operator II. The Computer Operator processes scheduled routines that present few difficult operating problems (e.g., infrequent or easily resolved error conditions). In response to computer output instructions or error conditions, this worker applies standard operating or corrective procedure, refers problems that do not respond to preplanned procedure, and may serve as an assistant operator, working under general supervision.

**Position is contingent upon award of contract.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operates and controls console of either a mainframe digital computer or a group of minicomputers, in accordance with operating instructions to process data.
  • Studies operating instructions to determine equipment set-up needed
  • Loads equipment with required items (tapes, cards, paper, etc.)
  • Switches necessary auxiliary equipment into system
  • Diagnoses and corrects equipment malfunctions
  • Reviews error messages and makes corrections during operation or refers problems
  • Maintains operating record
  • May test run new or modified programs and assist in modifying systems or programs

Education & Experience Requirements:

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* Ability to type 35+ WPM

* Demonstrated experience with Windows Operating Systems and hardware

* 1-2+ years of PC support, diagnostic/troubleshooting, & repair experience is desired.

* Must have a working knowledge of PC operations which include: Hardware, network settings, operating system, and MS Office applications.
