Full Time, Three 12 Hour Shifts, 7:30am - 8:00pm

JOB SUMMARY
Works under general supervision of a Registered Nurse to, assists with providing care and delegated activities of treatment to patients with renal failure. This position performs duties as assigned by the Charge Nurse and Registered Nurse.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required



  • Education
    High School Diploma or equivalent. or


  • Licenses and Certifications
    (BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)


Preferred



  • Experience
    1 year acute-care inpatient hospital experience


JOB DUTIES



  • Performs duties at all times under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and within limitations established in accordance with the institutional policies and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics - ensure all areas are safe and clean.
  • Use appropriate safety measures including personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Clean, disinfect, and rinse dialysis machines in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Complete and accurately document quality control logs throughout the day and after all treatments, as required.
  • Conduct all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatment and document where appropriate
  • Monitor patients during dialysis treatments, report untoward symptoms to dialyzing nurse and or Charge Nurse.
  • Conduct machine safety checks, report any change or unusual findings to the Charge nurse.
  • Complete water testing on the Central RO as well as the portable RO systems prior to a treatment start daily and as directed.
  • Obtain necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight. Report unusual findings to nurse supervisor. Assist with permanent exit site care when directed.
  • Ensure appropriate Machine safety alarms are enabled
  • Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, equipment, treatment bays, and surrounding area between treatments according to facility policy.
  • Perform all required pretreatment dialysis machine alarm testing.
  • Ensure that all blood spills are immediately cleaned with appropriate disinfectant according to facility policy.
  • Prepare, organize and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.
  • Complete and document ongoing participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Send collected samples to laboratory
  • Review of all dialysis supplies-replenishing supplies, and reviewing expiration dates
  • Transports patients to and from dialysis unit.
  • Transport of dialysis equipment to and from dialysis unit or other areas as needed
  • Weigh patient and obtain vital signs
  • Perform additional duties as needed for unit and patient care.
