GENERAL SUMMARY: Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP) are graduates of an accredited educational program and are nationally certified and state licensed professionals. The scope of practice is determined by state law and licensure, facility policy, education, professional judgement, personal experience, and practice agreement. Physician assistants are independent prescribers of Schedule II-V controlled substances, using their own DEA number and signature. This APP will work with the Internal Medicine team to transition patients from the hospital or direct admissions safely into the inpatient hospital bed: completing a full assessment, orders and documentation. This APP will also be responsive to calls for assistance from nursing or ancillary staff, physicians and assist with rapid response when indicated. The position is nights at this time, and includes rotating holidays and weekends. Four 10 hours shifts per week. Excellent critical thinking skills are necessary, as is the willingness to be flexible.
