Job Summary

The UCSF-ZSFG Trauma Recovery Center (TRC) is an award-winning program that is the first of its kind in California. It is designed to help survivors of violence overcome barriers to accessing mental health treatment, health care, and legal resources in the acute aftermath of trauma. The TRC provides trauma-focused, evidence-based therapy and assertive clinical case management services to survivors of interpersonal violence and traumatic brain injury. We provide all staff with weekly on-site supervision and extensive training.

Under the supervision of a senior staff clinician, the incumbent will provide clinical case management services to TRC clients, including refugees and asylees. The incumbent will also support the identification of resources for our clients' children and family members. This position requires care coordination with a diverse multidisciplinary treatment team, timely documentation, community-based outreach and accompaniment, relationship building with community partners, and identifying new available resources and creating workflows to help clients access the identified resources.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $30.68 - $39.90 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in social work or in a related field, and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledges and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
  • Experience working with populations that are diverse across, among others, gender, sexual orientation, ability, age, race, language, immigration status.
  • Experience working with survivors of trauma and people with mental health disorders. Experience working with people with complex psychosocial and medical needs.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, care coordination, case management, and team building skills, ability to set priorities, work independently, utilize consultation and supervision, excellent follow-up, work well under pressure and deadlines.
  • Experience doing case management, outreach, client accompaniments, and home visits.
  • Experience providing telehealth and in person services
  • Experience identifying relevant community resources, building relationships with community partners, and creating streamlined workflows to access community resources
  • The Social Work Associate must be able to provide survivors with trauma-informed integrated care coordination and clinical case management - both in clinic and out in the community.
  • The Social Work Associate must demonstrate cultural humility and a strengths-based, harm reduction, recovery-oriented approach to their work.
  • The Social Work Associate must be able to engage with, and provide services to, acute trauma survivors, including survivors of severe trauma.
  • The Social Work Associate will need to have knowledge of both Trauma Recovery Center and ZSFG policies and practices regarding client and staff safety, including mandated reporting requirements.
  • The Social Work Associate has excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • The Social Work Associate demonstrates reliability and dependability
  • The Social Work Associate has excellent professional boundaries when working with vulnerable trauma impacted clients

  • The Social Work Associate is bilingual in Spanish
