Remote position with the ability to travel to our NJ and NY locations up to 25% of the time.

Position Summary: GNY is seeking a motivated and analytical data engineer to support IT department. The primary role of this position is to curate data sets and provide analysis of complex models. This role will be crucial in the application of data governance standards and interpretation of data and its relevance to GNY's business model.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Curate, design, and catalogue high quality data models to ensure that data is accessible and reliable.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Design and optimize data storage solutions, including data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity through validation, cleansing, and error handling. Perform data quality checks and implement best practices in data engineering.
  • Build highly scalable data processing frameworks for use across a wide range of datasets and applications. Automate and improve data workflows for scalability and efficiency.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies by finding the root cause of issues; collaborate with partners across various cross-functional teams to prevent future occurrences.
  • Proactively look for opportunities to optimize the data loading structure and develop new approaches to improve the onboarding and integrity of the data.
  • Enforce data governance policies to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with regulations.
  • Be a key player and represent area of expertise on relevant projects.
  • Stay up to date on current technologies, best practices, and regulations concerning data collection and security.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study required(e.g. computer science, data science, data analytics, applied mathematics, etc.)
  • 1 required 3 years preferred of relevant experience or a significant internship in data engineering.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, MYSQL, and Python required
  • Knowledge of data modeling and database management required.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and data warehousing concepts.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge in version control systems like Git.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

The salary range for this role is$72,400 - $132,100. The listed annual salary range posted for this position is subject to change and may vary depending on performance, education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, demonstrated proficiency in the competencies required for the role and business needs. Base pay is just one component of GNY's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards include eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on performance.
