Is an internship passionate about changing the world's energy future intriguing? If so, we might have just the opportunity you're looking for! In this paid internship you will be conducting large-scale earthquake simulations, extracting earthquake data at component locations, and utilizing PowerWorld Simulator to perform contingency analyses. You will assist the project team in understanding the effects of earthquake vibrations on the power grid and assessing the socio-economic impacts at the community level. Key Responsibilities: * Run large-scale earthquake simulations. * Extract and analyze earthquake data at specific component locations. * Use PowerWorld Simulator to compute contingency analyses. * Collaborate with the project team to interpret simulation results and their implications. * Contribute to reports and presentations on research findings. Reporting to the Risk Phenomena Modeling group. This team works a 9x80 schedule, and works onsite at our Idaho Falls campus. Start date and duration of internship vary based on project and student availability. You may be eligible for course credit for this internship if approved by your university. Qualifications
