The Division of Classification and Compensation seeks to hire an experienced Assistant Director, Classification & Compensation to join our team in central Human Resources Administration. The Classification and Compensation Division coordinates the university's staff compensation and job evaluation & classification processes. We establish new staff positions and reclassify existing ones.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Under supervision of the Director, the Assistant Director, Classification & Compensation will oversee the Classification & Compensation unit staff for day-to-day operations, requests for analysis and/or reviews for classification, job evaluation/analysis, compensation, FLSA, development and modification of minimum qualifications /minimum hiring standards, and job audits. May conduct or coordinate audits of complex or unique campus positions. Provides executive consultation and support for the University's classification, compensation, and/or salary programs for all non-faculty positions and specific faculty positions. Conducts salary surveys, market analysis, internal analysis - and adherence to the GSU and USG salary approval processes. Supervises a unit of professional support staff, and/or student positions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Determines the daily assignment and workflow of position review requests. Consults with managers and/or senior level administrators regarding position reviews due to reorganizations or unit restructurings; the establishment of new positions or the implementation of new job titles for existing positions; and appropriate salary ranges. Ensures prompt turnaround times on all classification recommendation responses.
  • Directs ad hoc classification and compensation projects or studies to address various issues, such as internal or external equity reviews; and prepares management reports regarding classification/compensation issues, pay structure movement recommendations, etc. May personally conduct ad hoc classification and compensation projects or studies for more complex or unique situations. Develops, implements, and administers the University's staff pay structures. Ensures the salary structures are maintained and current for compensation programs, and available to campus users.
  • Maintains appropriate FLSA exemption status information on all staff positions. Works with Legal Services regarding the appropriate assignment of positions to job categories for EEO/AA analysis and reporting purposes. Establishes new job titles and job codes using the Board of Regents structure and enters the information into the appropriate systems and files.
  • Data Analysis and Data Integrity: Works with other units in HR or Finance & Administration (e.g., HCM and Payroll) to resolve classification and compensation data discrepancies
  • Keeps abreast of classification and compensation practices at comparator institutions, as well as University System and institutional policies and procedures that may impact classification and compensation practices.
  • Directs the on-going development and improvement of internal classification/compensation processes and feedback for effective customer service and to foster a better understanding of the University's compensation programs.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant Classification and Compensation experience, or a combination of education and paid work experience.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing classification, compensation, or job analysis/evaluation in a higher-education or public sector administration environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to extract information from multiple sources, synthesize /analyze the information, then present the information using technical writing and analytical and statistical skills in an appropriate presentation forum. Includes management reports, communications throughout campus, leadership communications, etc.
  • Recent demonstrated experience maintaining expertise on using subscription market salary data and internal analysis reporting for internal and external compensation analyses.
