Are you passionate about creating exceptional developer experiences and shaping the future of the Agentic Design System?! Join Salesforce's Design Systems Engineering team as a Principal UX Engineer, where you'll help drive technical excellence and innovation in our next-generation design system.

As a Principal UX Engineer, you'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, accessible, and performant components that power experiences for millions of developers. You'll collaborate with designers, engineers, and product managers to create scalable solutions that meet the needs of both no-code and pro-code developers.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical implementation of complex design system features and architectural improvements
  • Drive code quality standards and testing strategies across the team
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance on best practices in web development
  • Contribute to technical decision-making and architecture discussions
  • Champion web standards and accessibility best practices
  • Spearhead innovation initiatives that improve developer experience and system efficiency
  • Create educational content and documentation to support adoption
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with product roadmap

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • Deep expertise with modern HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and web standards
  • Strong understanding of component-based architecture and design systems
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable code
  • Experience with web accessibility standards (WCAG) and implementation
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and tools
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and leading technical initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across teams
  • Track record of driving innovation and technical improvements

Technical Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of semantic HTML and accessible interface development
  • Advanced proficiency in CSS, including modern layout techniques and architecture patterns
  • Strong JavaScript skills and experience with modern frameworks
  • Experience with build tools, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with design tools like Figma
  • Understanding of performance optimization and cross-browser compatibility
  • Version control with Git

For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600. For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600.
