Job Scope

The Senior Controller will oversee all controllership activities across multiple manufacturing plants within the Americas region. This leadership role involves managing the financial health of the plants, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and SG&A (Selling, General & Administrative) spend management for divisional functions (such as sales, marketing, HR, and other corporate support functions). The Senior Controller will directly manage two plant controllers and one junior accountant, providing guidance, mentorship, and development to this team. This position will work closely with plant leadership, finance teams, and other cross-functional departments to drive operational efficiency, cost optimization, and effective management of SG&A expenses throughout the region.

In summary, as the Regional Senior Controller, you will:

  • Financial Management & Reporting:
    • Oversee the month-end close process for all plants within the Americas region, ensuring timely and accurate closure of financial records in alignment with corporate deadlines and policies.
    • Supervise the reconciliation of accounts, review key journal entries, and ensure that all necessary adjustments are made for accurate financial reporting.
    • Collaborate with plant controllers to resolve any issues or discrepancies during the close process.
    • Review financial reports to ensure accuracy, compliance with internal controls, and alignment with corporate standards before submission to regional leadership.
    • Provide leadership and guidance on best practices for the month-end close process, driving efficiency and consistency across all plants in the region.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting:
    • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes for both manufacturing and SG&A expenses across the Americas region, collaborating closely with plant controllers, divisional department heads (e.g., sales, marketing, HR, and other support functions), and cross-functional teams to ensure accuracy and alignment with regional and corporate financial goals.
    • Analyze production costs, material consumption, labor efficiency, overhead expenses, and divisional SG&A costs (including sales, general, and administrative functions) to identify cost-saving opportunities, optimize spending, and improve overall profitability.
    • Develop and manage SG&A budgets for non-plant functions, ensuring alignment with the company's overall financial strategy while maintaining cost control across divisions like sales, marketing, and administrative support.
    • Provide ongoing financial guidance to divisional leadership teams to support business decisions related to SG&A expenses, ensuring adherence to budget targets across non-manufacturing departments.
    • Regularly review and update SG&A forecasts to reflect actual spending trends, identify variances, and implement corrective actions to keep divisional expenses in line with budgeted expectations.
  • Cost Control & Analysis:
    • Drive cost-saving initiatives and profitability improvements across all plants by performing detailed cost analyses and identifying areas for improvement in manufacturing costs.
    • Work closely with the plant controllers and plant accountant to ensure cost accounting systems are accurate and that manufacturing costs are consistently tracked and optimized.
    • Develop action plans to mitigate cost overruns and improve margin performance.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company accounting policies, and SOX regulations across all plants in the region.
    • Oversee the performance of internal audits, identify control weaknesses, and implement corrective measures.
  • Leadership & Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a finance team consisting of two plant controllers and one plant accountant, ensuring high performance and professional growth within the team.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, driving team engagement and continuous improvement.
    • Provide coaching and development opportunities to build financial acumen across the plants and ensure a strong pipeline of financial talent.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
