Sr. Manager, Product Marketing

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position provides overall business management of assigned platform product segment(s), driving product direction and vision. Emphasis is on brand strategy translated to product strategy developed through consumer, customer, market and category insights. Platform/program/product innovation, strategic agility and leadership, new product development, business acumen including P&L management and executional excellence, and sales partnership are components crucial to job.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Provide leadership, marketing direction and decision-making for assigned product categories.
  • Develop annual product segment strategic direction and implement tactical execution of plan; utilizing consumer, customer, pricing, market insights and developing trends.
  • Create strategies and tactics to meet financial objectives to drive both the short and long-term profitability and share position of all assigned businesses.
  • Analyze and action internal, external data to produce risks & opportunities, monthly report and business recommendations. Data includes, but is not limited to forecasts, revenue, point of sale, syndicated data.
  • Establish project objectives, performance requirements, contingency plans; manage and lead cross-functional teams as assigned.
  • Collaborate with marketing peers and sales, operations and global teams to drive executional excellence.
  • Lead projects through established cross-functional teams, identifying objectives, monitoring teams' progress, managing risk, and successfully delivering the desired results.
  • Collaborate with activation, merchandising, and sales teams to recommend promotional program planning as well as brand and product communications and development.
  • Recommend and drive the execution of relevant qualitative and quantitative brand and consumer research. Partner with insights teams to integrate insights into everyday business management and strategy.
  • Work with appropriate cross-functional and international partners on product forecasting (e.g. pipeline, ongoing) and obsolete and slow-moving inventory disposition as required.
  • Collaborate with product development, global and marketing teams to develop integrated program launches, including packaging, product, content, merch and full program innovation.
  • Present business performance, product launches, and strategic plans to management, sales force, media, customers and other internal and external partners as needed.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:



  • BA or BS degree with business concentration required. Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 6 years marketing experience preferably in CPG or toy company
  • Kid marketing experience preferred
  • 2+ years management experience with P&L responsibility preferred
  • Product Development experience, preferably with hard goods, toys, and/or chemical
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Lotus Notes experience recommended
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong business analytical skills with ability to define, get to root cause, and solve complex problems
  • Strong communication and poised, confident presentation skills
  • Resourceful, and results driven with ability meet expectations of consumers and customers with control and flexibility
  • Innovative / creative thinker with ability to champion new ideas
  • Intellectually curious with passion to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Needs minimal supervision; self starter
