Senior Data Architect
What you will be doing: The Senior Architect will actively contribute to the maturation of our application architecture for private and public cloud deployments to include security, scalability, resiliency, interoperability, and agility. In addition, contributes to the continuous maturation of software engineering best practices, policies, coaching/mentoring, software quality and technology adoption/retirement lifecycles. This position will specifically have responsibility for making technology recommendations around:
Domain blueprint/framework and the associated technical roadmap (group of technologies or products) Establishing guiding principles and design patterns to be used for a product or domain area Accountable for identifying, designing, building, and implementing API services Technology choices for vetting and approval Taking product/domain vision and translating that into the technical blueprint for the engineering team to build new technologies Providing coaching and oversight for architects and software engineers Product vision Being hands on with coding/development Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment
Key Responsibilities Software / Solution Design - 70%
Development for stories of any size; routinely is involved in delivery of more complicated development efforts Crafts current and proposed future-state high level system designs Actively participates in solution design discussions Contributes to and influences business and product strategy Lead blockitecture sessions, exploration and POC initiatives Initiating and leading process and technical improvements Assess current and future technologies Evaluate business and technology partners
Mentoring / Coaching - 20%
Provide mentorship and guidance to other members of the team to help increase their skills and enhance their ability to support project delivery Supports the team's interactions with other teams within Premier to coordinate technical activities Participate in assessment of technical skills sets of less senior members of the team and conveys this information accurately to supervisor to help with staff development plans Bring applicable technologies to team's best practices Provide knowledge/SME of multiple Premier products or business domains (i.e., at least three)

Preferred Qualifications Join Premier's mission to improve the healthcare of our communities by leading our Enterprise Data and Analytics Governance team. Reporting to the VP Enterprise Analytics and Data, this role will be responsible for establishing the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) capability and implementing a comprehensive Data Governance framework that includes participation from business and data stewards from the various data domains. Will be responsible to strategically prioritize data and analytics assets, and corresponding governance activities based on critical business needs and facilitating key decisions on cross-domain data requirements. Will orchestrate the creation, endorsement and adoption of Enterprise Data Governance policies and standards across various functional business and data teams fostering cross-functional data sharing while minimizing security, privacy, legal and compliance risks. This role will also set the strategy and oversee the technology enablement of Data Governance and Data Stewardship capabilities for the enterprise including Data Cataloging/Marketplace and Data Quality.
The ideal candidate is a thought-leader with a proven track record of establishing effective and pragmatic Enterprise Data Governance frameworks and policies, preferably in Healthcare Organizations. In addition, strong leadership, negotiation, and organizational experience in fostering cross-functional collaboration and leading change are key to being successful.
- Establish and mature the Enterprise Data Governance (EDG) Practice and Capability. Build and lead a team of data governance and data stewardship practitioners to position Data Governance as a business enabler.
- Own the Enterprise Data Specifications and Models.
- Collaborate with business, domain data teams, privacy, legal, and compliance leaders to align on the scope and remit of enterprise data governance to achieve critical business outcomes.
- Facilitate and chair the Data Governance Committees to foster a cross-functional approach to Data Governance, encouraging collaboration between business, IT, domain data teams, and compliance functions.
- Lead the development and adoption of Enterprise Data Governance policies, procedures, and standards such as data acquisition, metadata management, data quality management, and data access management to significantly improve data practices, reduce risk, and drive consistent data management across the enterprise.
- Enforce data lifecycle to ensure compliance with data privacy and security policies and regulations.
- Drive collaboration to make decisions related to Enterprise Data Governance Policies and standards and resolve issues.
- Facilitate and chair the EDG Working Committee consisting of data stewards from various functional areas to drive adoption and enforcement of Enterprise Data Governance policies and data management standards.
- Establish and track metrics to evaluate and continuously improve data governance processes and outcomes.
- Work across functional areas to establish critical Data Governance roles such as Data Owners and Data Stewards for key data and analytical assets.
- Own the implementation of a holistic technology and services strategy for Data Governance technology enablement and fully operationalize tools and services for Data Cataloging, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Metadata management.
- Lead education and change management efforts to improve data fluency, data stewardship, and governance skills, to ensure appropriate use of data.
- Consult with different functional areas to drive data cataloging, data stewardship, and data quality improvement initiatives through efficient use of technology.
- Promote ongoing improvements to governance practices, align with industry best practices, and regularly review and update the framework and policies.
- Healthcare Clinical and/or Cost Management source system knowledge.
- 3+ years of experience leading formal data governance and/or data management programs with cross-functional scope.
- Experienced in implementing modern approaches and operating models related to data governance and data stewardship including data lakehouse, data mesh, data fabric, etc.
- Strong experience in metadata management, knowledge of data standards, data cataloging, tagging, lineage, data quality and delivering data products within a data governance framework.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders across geographic boundaries and balancing multiple, complex requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels and within complex contexts.

Premier's compensation philosophy is to ensure that compensation is reasonable, equitable, and competitive in order to attract and retain talented and highly skilled employees. Premier's internal salary range for this role is $99,000 - $185,000. Final salary is dependent upon several market factors including, but not limited to, departmental budgets, internal equity, education, unique skills/experience, and geographic location. Premier utilizes a wide-range salary structure to allow base salary flexibility within our ranges.
