HawkEye 360 is currently seeking a Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer to join the Ground Systems Team. The mission of the Ground Systems Team is to provide the tooling to operate and maintain a growing constellation of small commercial satellites. This group is also responsible for building and operating a segment of groundstations to provide communications with these satellites. Satellite clusters and ground segments provide the platform for RF data collection that is essential to HawkEye 360's core business.

HawkEye 360 is looking for a candidate with good technical leadership and problem-solving skills, who is creative and has a passion for working with and developing innovative new technology.

As the Senior Flight Dynamics Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

• Develop and maintain automated flight dynamics systems, including orbit determination, trajectory prediction, and maneuver planning.
• Design and implement software solutions for mission analysis and conjunction assessment.
• Utilize Python and Java to develop robust flight dynamics applications.
• Deploy and manage applications using Kubernetes and Docker.
• Integrate and utilize mission analysis tools such as STK, ODTK, GMAT, or similar.
• Support satellite operations and ensure accurate flight dynamics modeling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex mission challenges.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential education and experience:

• 5+ years of experience in flight dynamics, astrodynamics, or a related field
• Proficiency in Python and/or Java, with hands-on experience using Orekit
• Experience with satellite mission analysis tools (e.g., STK, ODTK, GMAT)
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker for software deployment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in flight dynamics applications
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Strong experience with real-time software systems, distributed architectures, and high-availability systems.
• A good attitude and team-oriented spirit in addition to detail oriented planning and problem solving.

Desirable:

• Experience with satellite operations and ground system automation.
• Knowledge of spacecraft attitude dynamics and control.
• Background in conjunction assessment and collision avoidance.
• Dedication - sometimes we all need to burn a little midnight oil to get the job done.

Base Salary Range: $130,000 - $175,000 annually

HawkEye 360 offers a compensation package that includes a competitive base salary plus annual performance bonus and benefits. We consider many factors when determining salary offers, such as candidate's work experience, education, training & skills, as well as market and business considerations. We are also open to considering candidates with experience and qualifications at a different level than required in a job posting, which may affect the compensation package offered.
