We have an opening for a Security Project Manager.

The key skills sought for the Security Project Manager position are planning, resourcing, budgeting, execution, communication, risk management and adaptability. The ideal candidate will have experience managing full life cycle projects inclusive of initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, reporting and closure. The candidate will also be expected to seek growth and accept responsibilities as assigned within the Paul Hastings Information Security Program Office as the needs of the Firm dictate. The candidate will manage multiple IT projects from start to finish, ensuring they meet scope, budget, and timeline targets driving projects using both Agile and Waterfall methodologies. Responsibilities will include defining project objectives, developing detailed plans, coordinating cross-functional teams, mitigating risks, and resolving issues, while maintaining clear communication with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership. Additionally, the candidate will manage vendor relationships, oversee contract negotiations, and ensure compliance with the Firm's security and ISO protocols, continuously refining processes through post-project analysis and improvement initiatives. The Firm expects the Security Project Manager to approach each project with a sense of ownership-the successful candidate will ensure projects are aligned with business objectives, are well-structured, and conscientiously driven to successful completion while delivering value efficiently.

In this capacity, the Security Project Manager will:

  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams on task assignment, encouraging collaboration to meet project objectives;
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, business units, and leadership to ensure alignment and transparency with project objectives and progress;
  • Foster a safe, pro-contribution and communicative work environment;
  • Ultimately responsible for the successful execution and completion of assigned initiative(s);
  • Stewardship of project scope ensuring changes are documented, evaluated, and approved to prevent scope creep;
  • Maintain an organized and structured project library per PH standards referencing all project related artifacts such as plans, charter, requirements, minutes, etc.;
  • Ensure vendor cost and delivery accountability through periodic reviews and clear tasking / contracting;
  • Apply the Firm's standardized methodologies to ensure adherence to project management best practices and organizational protocols;
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare progress reports, and update stakeholders on project status;
  • Estimate project costs for labor, technology, infrastructure, software licenses and other resources as applicable for the project at inception and during its lifecycle;
  • Identify, document, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues to keep projects on track;
  • Track and report on major project changes though a project change log and provide reports covering the change decision process, scope, budget, resourcing and timeline impacts;
  • Understand current project resource status and be able to forecast against upcoming resourcing weeks using capacity planning, resource allocation spreads, skill activity matching and utilization rates;
  • Analyze completed and inflight projects to identify lessons learned and improve future and current project execution;
  • Understanding of the technology, security and operational risks as related to internal technology solutions and integrations;
  • Awareness of additional information security standards (GDRP, CSF, NIST, ISO), as well as the emerging cyber threat landscape; and
  • Ability to develop and maintain a solid working relationship across multiple stakeholder groups.

Proficiencies:

  • PMO or equivalent certification;
  • Experience with IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and system integration;
  • Experience with ISO 27001/27002 framework and controls;
  • Familiar with security tools, technologies, and vulnerability assessments;
  • Familiar with risk assessment, incident response and BCP;
  • Familiar with internal and external audits;
  • Preference will be given to candidates with law firm project management experience;
  • Ability to deliver clear, concise, and factually accurate written and oral communications appropriate for the intended audience; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft and project management applications/tools with preference given to candidates with a working knowledge of MS Project, SharePoint or Jira/Confluence.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technology or related field;
  • Minimum of seven (7) years project and program management experience;
