The Premium Billing Specialist manages their customer groups and provides customer service to members and employer groups, which includes but is not limited to: taking member and group contact phone calls in a dedicated queue, updating eligibility in the billing system, preparing and sending monthly reports, as well as responding to emails daily.

This position is full time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 7 am - 5 pm CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Employees are required to work 2-3 days onsite and 2-3 days from home.

We offer 4 - 6 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours during training will be 8:00am to 5:00pm CST, Monday - Friday. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

If you are within commutable distance to the office at any UHG Site in Wausau, WI you will have the flexibility to work from home and the office in this hybrid role* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Provide customer service to internal and external customers taking incoming calls in a phone queue
  • Responsible for premium billing to members and / or groups via annual coupons or monthly invoices
  • Manage your own customer groups within the standard business timelines, including processing adds, terms, monthly reports, daily member, and group requests
  • Work with various types of member correspondence
  • Adhere to departmental guidelines and processes put in place for these tasks
  • Become familiar with current policies and procedures and other reference material
  • Provide feedback and explanation in a positive and professional manner
  • Work in a team environment while demonstrating individual accountability
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma / GED OR equivalent work experience
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of call center customer service experience
  • 1+ years of experience in premium billing, collections, accounting, bookkeeping, OR cash handling
  • Proficiency with computer and Windows PC applications
  • Experience with Microsoft Word (create, edit, and save documents) and Microsoft Excel (create, edit, sorting)
  • Ability to work any full-time shift between the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM CST from Monday - Friday including the flexibility to work occasional overtime during peak season based on business need



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookup)



Telecommuting Requirements:



  • Reside within commutable distance to the office at any UHG Site in Wausau, WI
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
