Student Success and Well-Being Recreation and Wellness Center:

The Opportunity:

UCF's Student Success and Well-Being Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a Custodial Specialist I to join our team! Our team is dedicated to the cleaning and upkeep of our sprawling, state-of-the-art facilities, including the indoor recreation and wellness center, pools, lake front and more.

This is an Auxiliary-funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.

Responsibilities:

Cleaning:


  • Cleans and stocks restroom facilities and other common-use areas according to standards.

  • Removes trash and recycling.

  • Sweeps and wet mops floors, and refinishes by stripping, waxing, and buffing.

  • Pressure washes as needed.

  • Vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas; moves and replaces furniture.

  • Cleans furniture, walls, equipment, windows, and doors.


Record Keeping:


  • Assists with inventory control.

  • Reports deficiencies, such as maintenance, hazards, and sanitation issues.


Special Assignments:


  • Assists in restocking custodial closets when needed.

  • Assists with setting up and breaking down of equipment for special events.


Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of 9th grade, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Ability to use small and/or large floor equipment for carpet and hard floor care.

  • Ability to use tools required for the task (mop/mop bucket, dust mop, broom, scrub pad, radio, etc.).

  • Ability to comprehend safety for EH&S-approved chemicals for daily cleaning of restrooms, floors, and surfaces and be able to use approved chemicals.

  • Ability to comprehend and support all applicable Federal, State, and local safety rules and regulations, including OSHA, Dept. of Health, and the Bureau of Fire Safety.

  • Ability to understand, communicate, apply, and enforce UCF guidelines, regulations, and policies.

  • Ability to communicate in conversational English in order to work effectively with customers and team members.

  • Operate and interpret the functions of the electronic equipment (iPad and Computer) comprehend standard safety procedures and utilize telecommunication devices.

  • Ability to interpret, follow, and/or provide instructions.


Health Assessment Required:

The UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:

This position requires a valid Class E driver's license. This position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.

This position requires the ability to get CPR/First Aid Certification and Blood-Pathogen (will be provided upon hire by the department).
