Assistant Underwriter - Renewable Energy Onshore How does this role contribute to our collective success?

AXIS Renewables is seeking a dynamic individual to join a strategic team of renewable energy underwriters operating in one of the fastest-growing segments of the specialty insurance industry.

As an Assistant Underwriter, your work will directly support our underwriters in reviewing new and existing technology in the space. By assessing data, preparing documentation, and assisting with policy pricing, this role helps ensure that the underwriting process is efficient and effective. This contributes to the overall stability and growth of the Renewable energy sector, enabling our team to support the energy transition and make a meaningful impact on sustainability and climate goals.

What will you do in this role?
  • Data entry and account management
  • Review and prepare new submissions and renewals, verify that all necessary data required for the underwriting process is received
  • Review cat modelling output and collaborate with cat modelling team as required
  • Assist underwriters with entering, checking and monitoring of broker and client data
  • Compare expiring contracts to submissions and highlight any inconsistencies for the underwriter
  • Verify if the contract wording is in line with the underwriter's authorization
  • Assist in the analyses of business relationships, including broker and reinsurer relationships
  • Prepare documentation for clients / broker visits / market events and conferences
  • Assist underwriters in client audits and prepare files for internal and external audits
  • Prepare special acceptances and endorsements for referral to underwriters
  • Assure proper organization of underwriting files (both hard and electronic copies)
  • Chase late premiums with brokers, working alongside AXIS accounting to ensure swift response and payments.

You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.

About You:

What you need to have:
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can quickly assess marketplace opportunities and analyze and assess those opportunities for the benefit of AXIS and its clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Professional verbal and written communication
  • Ability to multitask and manage conflicting priorities
  • Excellent team-working skills
  • Accurate and diligent working approach
  • Self-initiated and high motivation; proactively addressing of issues
What we prefer you to have:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in either specialty insurance, or the renewable energy industry.

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of USD 70,000 to USD 80,000. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of various factors, including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
