Description

Summary: The System Design Specialist is primarily responsible for the design of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) systems in support of pre/post sales opportunities.

In this role, you may be asked to use attend site surveys and customer meetings, develop RF link budgets, create DAS designs (iBwave tool) including propagation plots, and assist in preparation of technical proposals. This role will be seen as a Subject Matter Expert for converged designs of Day Wireless's DAS systems in support of the sales and service organization.

Essential Functions:



  • Design and commissioning of public safety and cellular DAS/BDA systems in various environments
  • Design systems using iBwave design tool.
  • Create/customize RF Link Budgets
  • Develop Bill of Materials and design proposals
  • Attend Site Surveys and Customer meetings when needed.
  • Provide Technical DAS Engineering support for Sales and Support departments throughout the company.
  • Develop Statements of Work for assigned projects.
  • Test procedures and As Built documentation for projects.
  • Occasional field visits for troubleshooting and implementation support.
  • Travel Requirements: up to 10%-15% to support: DAS project designs; Customer meetings/presentations.


Qualifications

Required Skills:



  • 1 to 3 years of DAS and/or RF design experience with DAS/BDA
  • Working knowledge of RF propagation theory, link budgets, antennas, amplifiers, and transmission lines (coax/fiber/etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Wireless technologies and current trends with practical knowledge of Cellular and Public Safety RF and other networks, protocols, and systems
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Desire to learn new products and technologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.



Desired Skills:



  • Previous experience with DAS design (any vendor/OEM)
  • iBwave Design certification
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, and VISIO
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience with troubleshooting DAS Systems



Education and/or Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in electronic Engineer preferred or similar field.



Licenses, Certifications: FCC GROL License preferred but can be obtained during probationary period.
