Department Summary

The Summer @ Roche Intern Program has been developed to provide students with a fun yet rewarding summer through hands-on experience and numerous opportunities to network with other interns as well as employees in the organization. Additionally, we help our students meet their career development and educational goals while potentially building a future with the Roche organization. Leveraging the education you received already, we hope to give you an opportunity to grow and develop with us!

This internship position is located in Tucson, on-site.

The Opportunity

We are seeking atalented individual who is interested in early assay development for novel biomarkers and investigationof their medical utility in human tumor tissue specimens. You will work with a team of assay developers and pathologists toward maturation of a product concept. General responsibilities include maintenance of a laboratory notebook, communication and collaboration with team members, and attendance at team ceremonies and functions. Additional and specific responsibilitiesare defined by unique project-associated requirements.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Required)

Required Education:

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors:

  • Biology, Chemistry, or Biomedical Engineering or related field.

Required Skills:

  • Adherence to safetyguidelines ascribed generally and specifically to various laboratories.

  • Familiarity with common technical skills used in biology, chemistry, and/or biomedical engineering laboratories (for example, molecular biology, cell culture, bioinformatics, general chemical hygiene and safety, and common technical software solutions) are advantageous.

  • Efficient use of word processing, spreadsheet generation, and presentation programs.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $43.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
