The Production & Facilities office in the College of Creative Arts & Media at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Professional Technologist. About the Opportunity This position will provide helpdesk and outbound desk side in support of Information Technology activities of the College of Creative Arts and Media and its guests by providing high quality support for the computing, networking, data management and system management needs of our academic, research and artistic functions. This position requires fluency in Mac OS, Windows, iOS, and Android platforms with the ability to research new, emerging and specialized technologies. What You'll Do IT Outbound Support Technician
- Helpdesk support (phone, email, ticket, online) to triage, resolve, dispatch to location, or escalate to advanced support;
- New equipment setup: computer (Windows, macOS), mobile device (Windows, iOS);
- Computer lab, classroom support, and event support (software maintenance, cable management, periodic end-user testing, some physical cleaning, security check, new user instruction, virtual meeting guest support, interview support);
- Login support (password reset, password synchronization);
- Security vulnerability support (antivirus, identity finder, malware, drive encryption, operating system updates, application updates);
- Asset management (inventory, surplus, repurposing used equipment);
- Basic network support (port activation, data cabling path from network switch to end-user device, troubleshooting outage);
- Basic application support (Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Adobe Creative Cloud: Photoshop, Premier Pro, Illustrator, etc.);
- Software installation (operating system, drivers, office, Adobe Creative Cloud, computer aided drafting, etc.);
- Assistant to CCAM IT Coordinator (may work independently with daily task list, may work in any of twelve college locations across two campuses, may work with students as task lead);
- Needs at least one area of advanced focus for supporting Microsoft or Apple computer systems.
Length of Assignment: 4 Months Work Hours: 30 Hours per Week
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience involving:
- Technical experience in an IT related field.
- Verifiable experience providing technical support for both Microsoft and Apple computer hardware (desktop, laptop, and mobile devices) and the applicable software applications required by faculty, staff and students.
- Experience managing, troubleshooting, and supporting a wide variety of technologies and related equipment.
- Work experience in the computer support field should be demonstrated in resume.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

- Demonstrated ability to maintain an exemplary level of customer service with all faculty, staff, students, and visitors of the College.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in fast-paced, high-intensity academic environment.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and handle high-stress situations with colleagues, guests, and students.
- Must be able to provide advanced technical support for various hardware platforms, operating systems, and software packages, including Microsoft Office, Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and other industry-specific applications.
- Proficiency with and ability to learn specialized software platforms and their installation and upkeep.
- Must have ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and be able to make decisions independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to manage both long-term and short-term projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a field relevant to Information Technology.
- Applicable computer hardware/software certifications.
