The purpose of this position is to supervise the operational functions associated with the memorializing of Court proceedings and events for the Court and other interested parties so that they can have an objective record of those events in order to facilitate the judicial process and expedite resolution.

We Require

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Four years' administrative experience in a court or legal environment

  • Post-secondary education may substitute for two years of the experience requirement on a year-for year basis

We Also Value

  • Prior experience serving in a lead and/or supervisory capacity

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook

Job Contributions

  • Responsible for the supervision of a large number of para-professional staff to ensure optimal services are provided to support the Court. Assist with the hiring process, new employee orientation, and training for new Courtroom Clerks. Provide continuous job training and performance enhancement opportunities as needed. Develop individual performance plans and regularly monitor and evaluate performance by auditing various work products, statistical reports, and Courtroom visits

  • Responsible for the scheduling of court coverage and ensuring all courts have a courtroom clerk present for hearings. Facilitate and direct the processing and completion of division paperwork

  • Establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships with peers, employees, supervisors as well as representatives from other agencies and the public

  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of departmental policies and procedures and recommend and implement revisions as needed

  • Apply appropriate job-specific knowledge and use expertise to perform daily job responsibilities to achieve organizational goals and equitable access to justice (mission/vision/values)

  • Interpret statutes, Court rules, and Court procedures and develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with same. Communicates and coordinates to implement procedural changes with Courtroom Clerk staff, judicial staff, internal and external departments and agencies

  • Resolve non-routine issues and/or situations that arise on a daily basis. Perform research and make decisions of a high degree of difficulty due to the complexity or uniqueness of the situation or request

  • Work with senior management on projects that contribute to the goals and objectives set forth in the mission, vision, and value statement of the Clerk's Office, including compiling and analyzing statistical information used for project planning, resource management, and budget projections

  • May be required to be fully trained and proficient in a variety of different case categories and may be required to travel to various Court facilities

  • Demonstrate courtesy, honesty, fairness, and timely responsiveness when dealing with citizens, co-workers, or other departments in the County

  • Use positive influence to collaborate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people

Working Conditions

  • Requires long periods of sitting while completing computer activities

  • May require travel to and from job-related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
