Automotive Business Development Manager

General Summary:

Success is measured on the ability to achieve significant long term profitable sales growth and customer satisfaction for Automotive OE and Tier Level assigned accounts and targeted prospects. This position would be responsible for developing close customer intimacy with key sourcing decision makers. Monitor the Automotive Market to be fully informed of developments, changes, acquisitions, etc. and it's impact on our customers and new business development initiatives.

Essential Duties:


  • Develop and close profitable new business with existing and new customers.
  • Track all new business opportunities presented to the company with a disciplined commitment to use existing CRM system (Pipedrive).
  • Manage and develop the overall customer relationship with assigned accounts.
  • Monitor cross-functional New Product Development (NPD) tasks to ensure all project deliverables and deadlines meet our commitments to the customer.
  • Develop long term, strategic relationships with decision makers in the procurement and engineering functions.
  • Manage part price and profitability through the timely tracking of related cost drivers.
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned or required.


Education/Certification Requirements:


  • Four year business or technical degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Skill Requirements:


  • Five-seven (5-7) years of technical product sales experience preferred; minimum three (3) years with Automotive and Tier Level OEM sales experience with high value strategic accounts.
  • Experience working with Automotive Market purchasing systems and procedures is strongly preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of plastic injection and blow molding processes relative to HVAC ducts, washer bottle, and fluid tank applications.
  • Experience developing and closing long sales cycles.
  • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • CRM experience (Pipedrive, Salesforce, etc.)
  • ERP System experience (IQMS/DELMIAWorks is a plus).
  • Understanding of relevant Quality System standards and protocols.

Physical Requirements:


  • Primarily an office based position with travel as needed. Requires use of typical office equipment such as a computer, copy machine, laptop and cell phone. May be required to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
