The National Systems Group serves as the technical advisor to the Intelligence Community and its mission partners involved in the collection and distribution of national and tactical intelligence, including electronics programs, advanced technologies, ground and communications, imagery programs, and systems engineering and launch.

We are seeking a Ground Architecture Systems Director (Systems Director - Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering) to lead the Enterprise Architecting and Integration (EA&I) Department within the Ground Enterprise subdivision. In this position you will provide leadership, planning, and direction to a high-performing team supporting the National Reconnaissance Office Ground Enterprise Directorate (GED) Chief Architect, infrastructure team, and a key baseline program, which are responsible for supporting the baseline ground portfolio and evolving a fully integrated and resilient enterprise.You will direct all Aerospace EA&I activities including: leading ground architecture trades, evaluating candidate architectures to meet future needs, evolving automation for mission management and processing, supporting cloud-based solutions, and assessing and guiding contractors' agile software development. You will be critical in guiding the establishment of future enterprise-wide ground solutions by applying Aerospace corporate knowledge to solve the hardest mission challenges.

Work Model:

This is a full-time position based in Chantilly, Virginia, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing cross-organizational collaboration to ensure that ground architecture, infrastructure, and supporting functional needs are investigated and established from an end-to-end perspective
  • Collaborating within Ground Enterprise team, across partner organizations in the National Systems Group, with Aerospace engineering matrix organizations, and with NRO directorates and partners
  • Building and managing a strong program office team responsive to customer requirements
  • Serving as a principal technical advisor to the customer leadership teams within the Chief Architect, Enterprise Data, Applications, and Platforms, and Integrated SPO offices
  • Prioritizing and planning Aerospace activities to maximize impact aligned with strategic customer efforts
  • Working with customers to determine Aerospace support needs, and creating and executing associated resource budgets and plans

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Systems Director - Engineering Program Management and Systems Engineering:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences or a related field
  • 10 or more years of ground or space systems acquisition engineering experience
  • Experience building and leading high-performing teams of engineering professionals
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • the systems engineering lifecycle,
    • software architecting and development,
    • U.S. government acquisition processes,
    • agile software development,
    • strategic planning
  • Willing to travel domestically approx. 30 % to support customer activities and foster collaboration.
  • This position requires a current and active TS/SBI/SCI security clearance and polygraph, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

  • An advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics physical sciences, or related field
  • Direct experience in systems-of-systems architecting and engineering
  • Direct experience in software architecting, platform as a service, Dev/Sec/Ops pipelines, or data-centric architectures
  • Direct experience with related customer programs or agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
