As a Sr Software engineer in the Device Supply Chain IT organization in T-Mobile, you'll have the opportunity to: Strategy
- Own the technical vision and development of a sub domain or capability.
Technology and System
- Develop Supply Chain services and applications to deliver new system functionality supporting corporate business objectives. Lead moderately sophisticated projects from a technical perspective.
- Apply development skills to build software and unit test new system functionality per technical specifications, with results to include builds and releases.
- Ensure Continuous Integration and Build are in place.
- Maintain technical skills and expertise through continuing education and training.
- Ensure that the T-Mobile Supply Chain software, systems, and infrastructure are designed and implemented to the highest development and security standards.
- Regularly design, develop, implement, and support internal business systems/applications, systems interfaces, databases, reporting, and/or business intelligence systems. This software must meet customer's requirements, scale easily, remove the limitations of traditional supply chain solutions, and support deployment in highly available environments.
Project Management
- Translate business, and functional requirements into documented technical specifications or User Stories.
- Communicate design, requirements, functionality, and limitations of systems/applications.
- Use development skills to build (code) and unit test new systems functionality per technical specifications, with results to include code builds and documented unit test results.
- Develop or update support documentation as needed by the DevOps function and lead Peer Review to allow acceptance of systems changes into production.
- Oversee build and unit test production deployment packages.
- Facilitate/lead reviews (walkthroughs) or grooming sessions and demos of technical specifications and program code with other members of the technical team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, functionality, and limitations of systems/applications to team.
- Utilize product lifecycle methodology as a guide for development activities.
- Provide on-call and after hours support as required for production releases and to respond and provide active resolution support on production outages.
Relationship and People Management
- Perform peer reviews.
- Collaborate with architects and other Software Engineers on design.
- Collaborate with other Business and IT partner teams on successful delivery of product enhancements and support.
- Occasionally supervise contract resources
- Work with a team of Software Engineers on complex projects and normally receives little instruction on daily work. Technical assignments require sound judgment when resolving issues and making recommendations as well as considerable initiative. Work under the guidance of a Software Development Manager and often lead and mentor other Software Engineers.
- Lead the end-to-end solution with the team, from unit tests to CI/CD pipelines to deployments to monitoring and security.
- Go broad AND deep: work on front ends and back-ends, automate tests and infrastructure, build CI/CD pipelines
- Learn and help others learn modern practices such as test-driven development, pair programming, automation, async communication, and more
- Contribute to and learn patterns to build reliable n-tier architectures
- Sharpen your skills by getting hands-on with your team at all levels of the stack - and all parts of the process
- Grow your skills as an engineer by collaborating with peers in an organization that defaults to Agile development principles
Additional Job Description
- Bachelor's degree or higher, focused on Computer Science or Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years' Application Development experience, preferably in the Telecom industry. Minimum 5 years' professional experience designing and developing multi-tiered applications in Java, Springboot, API - Microservices, Cassandra (No SQL) and/or Oracle Cloud. A strong foundation in Java programming is essential, including core Java, Spring Framework and Spring Boot. Intimate understanding of SAP Technologies and Functional and integration components - SAP ECC, SAP PI, SAP OER, SCM HANA, SAP BW.
- Has had development experience on at least 4 projects with total project team size greater than 3 team members and has acted as lead Software Engineer on at least one project impacting multiple business units and providing technical leadership for at least 3 Software Engineers.
- 3 years of experience working in an Agile development. Proficiency in writing unit tests and integration tests using frameworks like JUnit and Mockito
- A good understanding of common development patterns and architectures for distributed service development.
- A history of collaboration with developers, non-developers, stakeholders, and customers.
- A track record of delivering quality products to market, especially in the Supply Chain space. Familiarity with DevOps CI/CD processes - Knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Maven. Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with Supply Chain Business (Master Data Management, Order Management, Inventory Management, Logistics and Transportation capabilities)
- Has experience mentoring other members of technical/development staff.
- Has experience working with at least 3 business applications/systems and has also provided tier 4 production support.
- May require up to 10% of domestic overnight travel within the region, and occasional trips to the Bellevue, Washington T-Mobile Headquarters
- Must be able to communicate with others effectively through written communication methods. Must be able to communicate (talking, hearing, etc.) with others effectively through oral communication methods.
- At least 18 years of age
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Base Pay Range: $113,600 - $205,000
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
