Why do we need you ?

CertainTeed's Roofing Product Group is seeking a talented Technical Services Engineer II to their collaborative team in Malvern, PA.

The Technical Services Engineer will serve as R&D's liaison with customers and suppliers, working with corporate office and plant-based teams to develop and implement product and raw material improvements.

Job objectives:



  • Engage with customers and bring feedback to R&D.
  • Work with the R&D and the manufacturing sites to realize process or design changes.
  • Revise raw material specifications and test methods.
  • Become a subject matter expert in the installation of roofing components and systems.


Essential Functions



  • Work with the plants to improve existing raw material quality testing & develop new ways of testing and monitoring raw materials.
  • Conduct supplier quality audits with cross functional teams.
  • Executing data-driven revisions to raw material specifications.
  • Attend industry and customer events in order to understand how to better serve the market.
  • Participate in customer complaint visits, working with Sales and Warranty Services on complaint resolution.
  • Using customer feedback, work with R&D to develop product improvements. Incumbent will then work with the plants to implement necessary changes.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.



  • 3+ years of experience in quality systems, document control, manufacturing environment, test method development, project management required.
  • Construction related coursework or experience is a plus.
  • Utilizes sound technical knowledge of materials, processes, techniques, and products to improve on product performance to reduce costs, to maximize production, and to support new knowledge research.
  • Capability to use personal computer and Microsoft Office applications, such as Excel and Word. Able to graph and chart data.
  • Ability to lead project teams comprising of cross-functional team members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable working with basic tools - training will be provided.
  • Manages and documents projects effectively under minimal supervision by a technical leader. Effective writing of reports, slides, summaries, bulletins, etc. Able to analyze data from experiments, trials, vendors, etc.
  • Able to implement Continuous Improvement principles.
  • Six sigma green belt is a strong plus.
