Carnegie Mellon University: Tepper School of Business Location Pittsburgh, PA Open Date Feb 28, 2025 Description Hiring is for the 2025-26 academic year, on a part-time basis, in Spring 2026. Teaching is for two sections of Business, Society, and Ethics, a core course for undergraduate business administration majors. Each section has a maximum capacity of 60 students, and there may be up to one grader available for each section. We are especially interested in candidates who have a background in normative ethics, and familiarity with applied ethics in a business context. While ethics and law run in parallel, we are seeking to distinguish our business ethics and business law curriculum. One important learning outcome for students in this course is to develop skills in criticizing and defending corporate policies and decisions using normative ethical theories. This may include assignments focusing on classroom debate and argumentative papers. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and energetic teacher, sharing their passion with students through interactive and vibrant classroom environments. Topics for an undergraduate business ethics course typically include: contracts and consent, honesty and fraud, exploitation and coercive pressure, product safety and liability, conflicts of duty (e.g., whistleblowing, trade-secrets, insider trading, bribery and corruption), corporate social responsibility, the nature of markets, fair practices and pricing, competitive practices (e.g., monopoly, price fixing), discrimination, wrongful termination, consumer and employee privacy, and meaningful work.
