- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required;
- College Degree preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training;
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be proficient with computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data or process information.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must perform supervisory responsibilities according to the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Assist workers in tasks such as coupling railroad cars or loading vehicles safely while operating heavy equipment and/or hand tools.
- Compute or estimate transportation, personnel, or storage requirements.
- Confer with customers, supervisors, contractors, or other personnel to exchange information or to resolve problems.
- Direct workers in transportation or related services, such as pumping, moving, storing, or loading or unloading of materials.
- Drive vehicles or operate machines or equipment to complete work assignments or to assist workers.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations. (Federal, state, local and company policies.)
- Examine, measure, or weigh cargo or materials to determine specific handling requirements.
- Explain and demonstrate how to safely perform work tasks to new workers or assign training tasks to experienced workers.
- Inspect or test materials, stock, vehicles, equipment, or facilities to ensure that they are safe, free of defects, and consistent with specifications.
- Interpret transportation regulations, shipping orders, safety regulations, or company policies and procedures for workers.
- Maintain or verify records of time, materials, expenditures, or crew activities.
- Monitor field work to ensure that it is being performed safely and properly and that materials are being used as they should be.
- Perform or schedule repairs or preventive maintenance of vehicles or other equipment.
- Assist and oversee all plant operations, including troubleshooting problems and finding solutions to solve them.
- Plan work assignments and equipment allocations to meet transportation, operations, production and safety goals.
- Prepare, compile, and submit reports on work activities, operations, production, or work-related accidents.
- Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, safety improvements or customer services.
- Recommend or implement personnel actions, such as employee selection, evaluation, or disciplinary actions.
- Requisition needed for personnel, supplies, equipment, parts, or repair services.
- Resolve worker problems or collaborate with employees to assist in problem resolution.
- Review orders, production schedules, or shipping or receiving notices to determine work sequences and material shipping dates, types, volumes, or destinations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
