Job Type: Full-time, seasonal position with overtime

Experience: 5+ years of experience on 627 Scrapers, Cat Dozers, and Cat Motorgraders

Reports to: Paving Forman, supervisory responsibility

Wage: $28-$32 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Job Summary:

The Scraper Crew Lead will be responsible for operating and managing the operation of a 627 Scraper. Ensuring safe earth-moving operations. The role involves overseeing the performance of scraper operators, managing equipment maintenance, and ensuring all projects are completed on time and within budget while adhering to MSHA safety Standards. This position reports to the Paving Forman and has supervisory responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects.
  • Lead, supervise, and manage a team of scraper operators, ensuring that daily operations are carried out safely and efficiently.
  • Operate a full range of heavy equipment (i.e. 627 Scraper, D8 & D6 Dozers, and 140 Motorgraders, etc..)
  • Operate and maintain other equipment as needed.
  • Perform inspections and maintenance of equipment such as greasing, checking oil, water, and tires/tracks.
  • Perform physical duties about grade prep and/or grading work (i.e. shovel, sledgehammer, rake, etc.).
  • Follow, enforce, and always promote all company safety and quality requirements.
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours).
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure all team members follow MSHA guidelines, company safety standards, and equipment specific procedures.



Position Requirements:



  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test.
  • Basic mechanical skills.
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of road construction materials, processes, and industry requirements.
  • Understand instructions from supervisory positions, both written and verbal.
